Google Apps for Education...A Student Perspective
Three 3rd grade students at Reuben Johnson Elementary got excited about all that Goole Apps for Education could provide them and their classmates this year, so they took it upon themselves to educate their peers on how awesome this tool is for learning. No better way to promote a tool than through the voices of students. See the link below for their presentation on using Google to collaborate, plan and learn.

1:The World Parent Meetings
Parents of current 8th graders are invited to attend one of the 7 scheduled parent meetings being held this spring to learn more about the 1:The World Freshman Laptop initiative at each high school. All rising freshman students will receive an 11" MacBook Air computer to use for learning over their four years of high school. The meetings will cover logistics of the initiative, MISD's goals and direction with technology in the classroom and rules for use of these devices. Parents need only attend one meeting and can come to any campus/date that works for them. Meetings will be held starting at 6:30 on each date. See THIS LINK for more information.

~ Google Cardboard ~
What is Google Cardboard?
Together with the Go-Pro company, Google created a circular camera aray that takes 360 degree, 3D pictures. Utilizing Google's "Cardboard Viewer" and a smartphone users can access and view virtual reality experiences in stereoscopic views; literally making you "a part" of the photograph. Using Google's free "Street View" app, anyone can travel virtually anywhere in the world. From the top of Mt. Everest to the the Great Barrier Reef.
