Career Day Opportunity
New Deadline: February 22nd.
Lake Travis Elementary is excited to announce that we will be hosting a Career Day on March 10, 2022! This is a fantastic way to provide students with first-hand knowledge of the different careers in our community. It is never too early to inspire young minds! This is a great way for parents and community to get involved at Lake Travis Elementary and make an impact on the future of our students.
We are looking for parents and other community leaders who will share their career experiences with students during classroom presentations prior to their grade’s lunchtime. They will speak with a selected grade and visit individual classes from that particular grade. This is approximately a two and a half-hour commitment. We will also make accommodations so speakers can have the option of presenting in their child’s class. There can also an option to present virtually if you choose to do so.
Please note, if we have an overabundance of offers from similar career types, we will use a lottery to select the presenter. If you have any questions, please contact our Counselor, Laura Reed at 512-533-6332 or email at twoheyl@ltisdschools.org.
Thank you in advance for your support of Lake Travis Elementary School. It means the world to us! Responses are needed by February 11, 2022 for scheduling purposes.
Reporting COVID Positive or Close Contact
- Report student's COVID-19 diagnosis, use THIS LINK
- Report siblings as close contacts from the same form. Please fill out this form for each sibling affected.
- Report a close contact within the household, please use THIS LINK.
****If there are LTISD siblings in close contact with a positive person in the household, please do not send them to school. They need to stay home to quarantine and watch for symptoms. This does not apply if the siblings are fully vaccinated (2nd vaccine greater than 2 weeks ago) OR Covid positive in the last 3 months. You will need to update the nurse at colwellc@ltisdschools.org.
A nurse or staff member will contact you to go over return dates. Please allow up to 24-48 hours for contact. Thank you for your understanding.
Information about LTISD's Response to COVID-19, including the case dashboard and district protocols for student and staff illnesses, can be found HERE on the LTISD website.
Important -Increased COVID Positives Impact on Campus
Due to the rising numbers of COVID cases we aren't allowing visitors in the building at this time. Unfortunately, this means no lunch visitors. Volunteers will be allowed, by appointment only. We are highly encouraging virtual meetings over in-person meetings. Thank you for your understanding and patience with this as we continue to navigate through these questionable times.
Due to the recent surge in COVID positive cases, we often have to disperse classes among the grade level. There have not been enough subs to cover all the teacher absences.

Lost and Found
Is your student missing a jacket? Lunchbox? Water bottle?
Visit the lost and found at school at the end of the school day.
A good way to prevent losing your child’s items is to write your child’s name in their coats and other belongings with a permanent marker, our staff checks the lost and found and will return those items that have a students' name written in them, by taking this measure you can prevent losing your child’s possessions.
We Love Our Volunteers
- Be a WATCH D.O.G.S. Get a glimpse of a day in the life of LTE staff members and students. We can always use an extra set of eyes and ears on campus. And the kids love seeing dads in the building.
- Be a mentor and meet with a student or two once a week. Build a positive relationship with a child and witness a multitude of benefits for both you and an LTE student.
- Be a tutor. Many of our students would benefit from a little extra help.
- Be a lunch monitor. Our cafeteria is a very busy place. Just 30 minutes for each grade level.
- Join PTA and volunteer to help in the Holiday Shop or send a few treats to school for teachers.
- Be a librarian's aide. Those books are stacking up and Ms. Halprin always needs help shelving books.
- Be a guest reader in the classroom or a literacy partner and read to your child's class or with individual students.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer at LTE, please contact our campus Volunteer Coordinator, Alys Moore at moorea@ltisdschools.org, or GW Byers, Community Relations Liaison, at byersg@ltisdschools.org. Or you can call Ms. Byers at 512-533-6099. Ms. Moore can be reached at 512-533-6355.
