Celebration
March Madness begins on Monday!
Classroom books will be available in labeled baskets located on the table in the Instructional Support Room. Many of the books are library books so please return the books to the baskets as soon as you are done reading them to your class to ensure they do not get misplaced. Please coordinate with your grade levels throughout the week to ensure all classes have had the chance to read both assigned books. Caroline will send an email next week with the link to submit your class vote.
Week 1 Titles
Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade: A Ball for Daisy (PE) VS. Vroom! (library)
Second Grade and Third Grade: The Day You Begin (in classroom) VS. Truman (library)
Fourth and Fifth Grade: Because (music) VS. Vamos! Let’s Go to the Market (4th library, 5th in classroom)
Staff: Dreamers VS. After the Fall (located in the lounge)
End of the Trimester
Friday marks the end of the Second Trimester, which means that Standard Marks are due. All Standard Marks must be submitted by 11:59 PM on Sunday, February 23. This will allow Norma and Martha to start checking for mistakes on Monday. The SLPs will be distributed on Tuesday.
Student Provided Snacks
It was recently brought to my attention that we have not been enforcing the Food Allergy Management Program, as outlined in the Parent/Student Handbook. It states that "Students are not allowed to bring food items to school to share with others, including birthday treats or food of any type to share for celebrations or holiday parties." From this point forward, this needs to be our response to any parents that wish to bring in treats or food. If they want to share something with the class, it must be a non-food item.
The policy does not say that teachers cannot supply treats, and if they choose to, they must provide families written notice in advance. We will continue with the procedure. Please let me know directly if you have any questions or concerns.
