MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
And just like that it’s November! Our trimester 1 is coming to a close at the end of the month and students are continuing to blow me away with their academic progress.
Though in November already, we have lucked out with the extension of “summer” in october. Students have been enjoying extra recess, and learning outside. We love when we can utilize our outdoor classroom in November!
It was great to see families on Wednesday night at conferences. Here is a resource for families of English Language Learners. Some families may have received this at conferences as a handout. If you have any specific questions please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Rapsch at jennifer.rapsch@franklin.k12.wi.us It was a busy night at the book fair as well. We look forward to seeing the remaining families on Thursday, November 10th at conferences. Remember conferences are just one piece of the family/school partnership puzzle. Never hesitate to reach out and connect with teachers or myself.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE SIGN UP
YOUR CHILD’S EMERGENCY CONTACTS
After the lockdown incident at Franklin High School last week, we examined and reviewed how quickly the messages were getting to families after we sent them. The time for messages to move from us to parents during that incident experienced a small lag. After reviewing this with our messaging provider, we learned of a more efficient way to send messages out during emergencies. As Monday came around and FPMS went into lockdown, evacuation and reunification, the district emergency broadcasts that went out not only went to listed parents/guardians, but also to any “emergency contacts” that are associated with your child(ren) as listed in PowerSchool. Sending these as emergency level messages allows for the emails and phone calls to go out quicker through the system.
We share this with you so you understand that there may be times where your emergency contacts will receive information from us in situations like this. Please share this knowledge with your emergency contacts so they are in the know. We always work to identify ourselves as “Franklin Public Schools” when sending messages. If you wish to change your emergency contacts, you can connect with the main office staff at your child’s school.

ANY absence including leaving early and arriving late are reported on a google form. HERE is the link to report absences. It would be a good idea to bookmark this link for your convenience.

The Robinwood Book Fair is officially HERE! Students will get a chance to visit from Monday, November 7th - Thursday, November 10th with their class. Each teacher will choose a signup time(s). Please inquire if you don’t know which day your child will be going to the fair. If you prefer to shop with your child, please visit us on our remaining conference night, Thursday, November 10th from 4PM until 9PM. Parents can use credit cards, checks, cash or a new scholastic e-wallet. (Click here to create an e-wallet for your child.)
We will be OPEN on Friday, November 11th through the entire school day for students to shop on their own. Students who forgot to shop with their class or were absent on their shopping day are encouraged to visit. We ask each child to check in with their teacher first to make sure they’re not marked absent. We will also be open after school until 5PM for you to come in with your child to shop that evening. Again, this is ONLY on Friday, November 11th!
We are still looking for volunteers to help work the Book Fair on Conference night. (Thursday, November 10th) Please click here to sign up.
Thanks for all your consideration and for making our Book Fair such a success!

YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING OPPORTUNITY
As part of the School-Based Mental Health Grant we received as a district, we are excited to offer a Fall and Spring opportunity to train parents, guardians and community members in Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA). Our first training opportunity will occur on December 6th from 4:00-8:30 PM. During the YMHFA course, participants develop an understanding of the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in youth, the importance of early intervention, and how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Participants will engage in a 2-hour self-paced course followed by a 4.5 hour in-person session with a district trainer. If you are interested in engaging in this Fall training, please complete this form no later than November 4th. A confirmation email will be sent to finalize your enrollment in the course and next steps. Please note this is the same course we offered last year, so please only sign up if you have not yet been certified.
