LTUSD VISION:
DISCOVER AND FOSTER THE UNIQUE TALENTS AND POTENTIAL OF ALL STUDENTS
Video Chat with the Superintendent: Staff Appreciation Week
Good afternoon LTUSD friends and family,
It is hard to believe that we only have seven weeks of school left! There are so many amazing activities and events happening before school is out that it is hard to keep track of everything.
One program that you may not know about is the Bread & Broth for Kids Program (B&B 4 Kids). The program began in 2015 after volunteers realized many kids were going home hungry on the weekends. Volunteers who support the program fill bags of food for LTUSD students in need so the students can take home a bag of food every Friday. All food is single-serving and individually wrapped. A nutritionist from Barton Health advised the Program Lead, Cheryl Breitwieser, on healthy food options which include: low sodium, high protein, and fresh vegetables and fruit. Ms. Breitwieser noted that they survey the students, parents, and schools to confirm that the kids like the food and eat it. The program currently serves 161 students.
Members of the STHS S Club, Sofia Marroquin, and Valery Gonzalez realize the important role of the B&B 4 Kids Program in providing healthy nutritious food to our students, so they organized a Food Drive for B&B 4 Kids which runs through June 15, 2023. Sofia and Valery would appreciate your donations to the Food Drive. Drop off locations are: LTUSD District Office, Sierra House Elementary School, Bijou Elementary School, STHS, STMS, Mt. Tallac High School, Meyers Elementary, Tahoe Valley Elementary during school hours.
We have also partnered with the City of South Lake Tahoe for the Food Drive and you can drop off food at these two city locations: City Hall/Airport, Finance Front Counter, 1901 Lisa Maloff Way,
M-Th, 9am-4pm and the Recreation & Swim Complex, Front Desk, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.,
M-Th, 7:30am-8pm; F-Sat, 9am-4:30pm
