Student Consequences for Unexcused Absences

At the secondary level, attendance is marked per period. If a student has at least five (5) unexcused absences, or absences for which the reasons are unknown, in any one course within a calendar month or ten (10) unexcused absences, or absences for which the reasons are unknown, in any one course within a semester, the student may lose privileges as described below.

Loss of Privileges Due to Unexcused Absences

• May be excluded from attendance reward incentives as defined at the school level.

Lose the privilege of participating in extracurricular activities. These include but are not limited to dances, special events, club activities and athletics, until the end of the following grading quarter. Absences accumulated in the fourth quarter will result in loss of privileges during said grading quarter only and will not carry over to the following year.

Lose the privilege to drive to campus until the end of the following grading quarter.

Absences accumulated in the fourth quarter will result in loss of privileges during said grading quarter only and will not carry over to the following year.

The principal or designee may review extenuating circumstances resulting in a loss of privilege(s). The principal’s decision is final. Principal review is only intended to reinstate privileges that have been lost as described above. It is not intended to impose harsher discipline than what is outlined herein and in another district policy.

Yearbooks

We sold out early last year. The only way to guarantee you get a yearbook is to preorder it early in the school year. This period will end March 3rd. Parents, if you purchase through the Student Pay portal, PLEASE double check your student's account. If you are not sure, email me (Mrs. Ingram) and I can tell you. Last year we had a number of seniors who thought their parent paid for a book, but the parent had paid for something else, like senior fees. It's heartbreaking to tell these seniors that we do not have a book for them. Before preorders end, we will post a list of everyone who has ordered. Please encourage your students to check this list to avoid this situation. Yearbooks can be purchased through Walsworth's site or through Pasco's Student Pay portal. If you are looking to pay by cash or check, please contact me directly. Current cost is $85, which will increase to $90 starting on September 1st.

If you have any questions regarding school photos or yearbooks, please email me at pingram@pasco.k12.fl.us

Senior Yearbook Ads

Parents of seniors, if you are interested in purchasing a senior ad for the yearbook, please see the form that shows our pricing. All ads are full color. The deadline to purchase a senior ad is December 16, 2022. After that we may still be able to accommodate you depending on space available, but there will be a late fee added on. If you are paying by cash or check, this form must accompany your payment (bring to the office, put "Ingram" on the envelope). If you are paying by card, you must make your purchase at www.yearbookforever.com. Contact Mrs. Ingram at pingram@pasco.k12.fl.us if you have any questions.

Senior Portraits:

We have a contract with Gigante, and seniors must have their session with them no later than November 3rd in order to make it into the senior section of the yearbook. Students will take a formal pose and a "personality" pose, and we include both of these in the yearbook. Also, any senior who gets their photo taken before September 1st OR who makes their appointment with Gigante by September 1st (meaning you have booked your appointment by 9/1 even if the session doesn't actually happen until September or October) will be entered into a drawing for a free half page senior ad (valued at $200). We will randomly select two winners.

Senior Panorama

Gigante will take the senior panorama (the big group photo of the Class of 2023) on October 7th. More information (time, what to wear, what not to wear) will be sent out prior to this date.

Costa Rica Trip

Mrs. Taylor, one of our science teachers, is leading a student trip to Costa Rica next summer. “Adventuring and Volunteering” includes some volunteer activities such as planting trees to help with reforestation and handing out supplies at local schools. It also includes fun adventures such as kayaking, ziplining, and swimming in a hot spring.

This is a great opportunity for students to expand their world view, gain confidence and maturity, and make a difference to a community in need. Additionally, students can receive volunteer hours that count towards Bright Futures during the trip.

There will be a zoom meeting on Monday September 26th at 7 pm for parents and students who are interested in the trip. Use the link below to attend.

For more information you can also contact Mrs. Taylor at mptaylor@pasco.k12.fl.us or follow the tour link to view the itinerary, pricing, etc. or to sign up. http://www.explorica.com/Taylor-6405
