FRONTIER EAGLE NEWS

December 2022

A Note from the FMS Administrative Team

Dear FMS Families,

We hope that all of you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, filled with much-need relaxation and time with family and friends. November was a busy month at FMS, between the official start to our winter sports season (which has been well-supported by our greater FMS community), Veterans Day, Kindness Week, a successful turkey drive, and STEM Day, along with many other activities. It has been wonderful to see our students involved in fun and engaging school-related activities, both during and after the academic day. We look forward to continuing the momentum as we head into the final month of 2022!

With that, we know that the holidays are a joyful time for many, but that they can also be a difficult time for others. Please know that we are here to support our students in any capacity possible, and we always invite you to reach out to us if we can help in any way.

Sincerely,

Dr. Laura Rowe-Holler, Principal

Mrs. Amber Houdei, Assistant Principal (Sixth Grade)

Mr. Kevin Kuehl, Assistant Principal (Seventh Grade)

Mr. Adam Bender, Assistant Principal (Eighth Grade)

FMS Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Cara Rhyne (FACS Teacher)

It is with tremendous pleasure that we name Mrs. Cara Rhyne, Family and Consumer Science teacher, as Frontier Middle School’s 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Rhyne performs her job at an exemplary level and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to serving our Frontier students and families. She is a caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic educator who goes above and beyond to build lasting and meaningful relationships with her students.

Her colleagues accurately describe Mrs. Rhyne as being the “light” of Frontier. This is undeniably accurate, as Mrs. Rhyne always has a smile on her face and a kind word to offer to her students and colleagues. Mrs. Rhyne works each day to make FMS a better place, as she instills in our students the importance of serving others. This is seen through the projects in which she leads her classes. An example of this was the facilitation of the creation of port pillows for cancer patients. Our students are better people because of Mrs. Rhyne. We are lucky to have such a talented, compassionate, kind-hearted, and skillful member as part of the Frontier family.

AMAZON SMILE:

YOU SHOP, AND THE SCHOOL GETS PAID!

Did you know that when you shop on Amazon, it's easy for Frontier to get a small percentage from your purchase? All you have to do is shop through AmazonSmile instead of Amazon.
Once you've set up your account, your shopping experience will be identical. The only difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate .5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice. Frontier Middle School PTSA would be grateful to be the charity you choose. Go to smile.amazon.com to get started. Once you've set this up, it's easy to set up your Amazon app to link to AmazonSmile as well.

Child Nutrition has substitute positions available as well. Learn more and apply today.

FMS Artist of the Month

FMS would like to congratulate sixth grade student, Luke Johnson, for being named the Artist of the Month! Luke is a role model in the art room and beyond. He spent over a year creating, illustrating, and publishing his own book, Diary of a Minecraftian! He used Google Docs and Storyjumper to make his book, and he is currently working on a second. Congratulations, Luke!
