Assassination of Martin Luther King
Who, What, When, Where, Why
Martin Luther King Jr. was shot in the neck by James Earl Ray 200 feet away on April 4, 1968 in Memphis Tennessee while standing on a second-floor balcony outside his room at the Lorraine Motel. No one knows why he assassinated Martin Luther King Jr.
News-one reported Loyd Jowers, owner of Jim’s Grill, which was close to the Lorraine Motel, claimed that the shot which killed Dr. King was fired from behind his restaurant, and that local, state and federal U.S government agencies, and the Mafia, were all involved. James Earl Ray, who pleaded guilty to assassinating King, was renting a room above Jower’s establishment and was allegedly an unwitting scapegoat.
BBC News reported that Martin Luther King Jr. was shot in the neck as he stood on a hotel balcony and died in hospital soon afterwards. James Earl Ray was convicted of his murder and sentenced to 99 years in prison.
