The Pershing Elementary Newsletter

Principal Message

Good Morning Pershing Families,

May 3rd - 7th is National Teacher Appreciation Week and our PTO has put together an activity and theme for each day to help us show gratitude to our hard working teaching staff. Please see the flier below and encourage your child to bring a card to show appreciation for his or her teacher on Thursday. Students are encouraged to wear their teacher's favorite color to school, so we hope to see a rainbow of color on school Friday. (We will count each who wear their teacher's favorite color for our Friday Spirit Count, too!)

SJUSD Parent Survey: San Juan Unified School District sends an annual survey, typically in the winter, to gather feedback from families, students and staff. We use that information to inform our School Site Council and staff decisions regarding school programs, professional development and various activities. The district also reflects on the data presented in the surveys to inform decisions. Here it is again: Please take time to complete this survey so we have your input. Your feedback is very important to our staff. We have had 37 surveys returned so far, so please be sure to provide feedback and complete the survey soon.

Parents, thank you again for all of your hard work, support and communication! We could not do this without your partnership! Have a great rest of your week.

Mrs. Kendra Shelton

If you buy a PTO membership, your pictures will be included with the membership!

Lastly, what does the PTO need to be successful? Just a few people willing to help out with different committees and tasks throughout the year. When you are a member, we can reach out to you for help when needed. You do not have to attend every monthly meeting to be an active PTO member! If you are interested in helping out the PTO, please become a member. We will be sending out a survey to all parents and PTO members soon asking for new ideas, for skills, interests and availability to help with different tasks to support our school and children.
