Principal's Message
TJ Community:
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and that all the children are as excited as we are to return to TJ for another great year.
Above this message is our NEW TJ logo. We are still the Jaguars, but our logos will look a little different to everyone. Speaking of different, if you drove by our school you might have seen our entrance also looks different as well. I'm very excited for our all of you to see the window designs we have put up at the front of the school.
If you have set up your Parent Portal in Infinite Campus, you should now be able to see your child's teacher for the school year. Please contact the school, if you cannot access your child's account and we can assist you.
Have a great final week and we will see everyone soon.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the school. 847.963.5400.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sasso
Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Infinite Campus' Campus Parent is designed to provide parents real-time access to student information. The easy-to-use design displays what is currently happening in the classroom so you can understand, monitor, and participate in your child’s educational experience.
This portal also provides parents access to check for teacher placement and student schedules once their student is registered. District 15 has also used IC to gather parent survey responses. Make sure you have your account set up for the new school year! To learn how to set up your account, watch tutorials, or access a help center, please visit our website.
Entrance Procedures (August 17-19)
1st, 3rd and 4th grade teachers will line the students up at the front entrance and 2nd, 5th and 6th grade teachers will meet the students at the doors by the primary playground (Door 13).
Students should start arriving around 8:10 and their teachers will walk their students into the school at 8:25.
I know many parents enjoy walking their child to school the first week, so please remember to park in the neighborhood and cross Winston Drive where the crossing guard is located.
Just as reminder, for safety reasons parents will not be able to come into the building to walk their child to class.
Entrance and Exit Procedures -The Rest of the School Year
For those of you that are new to TJ, we have two separate spots for cars and buses. If you drive your child or pick them up from school, we ask that you enter the main school parking lot by turning RIGHT into parking lot (please drive north down Winston). Please DO NOT park in the parking lot and walk your child through the lot. This is extremely dangerous and we do not want students or adults cutting through parked cars. If you want to walk your child towards the front of the street, please park on the street and cross over Winston where our crossing guard is stationed.
If you drop off or pick up your child, we ask that you pull all the way up to the front of the school before your child exits the car. There will be adults outside assisting students out of their car. We ask that all students exit on the passenger side (closest to the curb).
It is against the law to be on your phone while driving through the school zone. Please pay attention at all times while you are near TJ.
2022-23 TJ School Time Schedule
Please note on Fridays the school end time is different for ALL students
Visitors at the School
Although we strive to make our school warm and inviting, we also need to make sure our school is safe at all times. This link has detailed information explaining what visitors must bring to the school.
Most importantly, visitors must:
- Provide personal government-issued identification card in exchange for the visitor’s pass.
- Visibly wear the visitor’s pass that is provided by the school’s office personnel for the duration of the visit.
Hello all,
Welcome to or welcome back to TJ!
We are excited to kick off this new school year as a PTA and cannot wait to get to know all of you. If we have not yet met, we are the PTA co-presidents for this 2022-23 school year. Between the two of us, we have two 1st graders, two 4th graders and a 6th grader.
This year for the TJ PTA, we are going to plan all of our usual events - from Fall Fest to TJ Carnival and maybe a few virtual events thrown in, as well (those were a lot of fun!). We will need help and feedback from you as TJ families to make each of these events a success. To check out what the PTA is up to, as well as to receive information on upcoming events, please come find us on Facebook; "Thomas Jefferson Elementary PTA" with a picture of the school and the Jaguar, OR use this link to get to the Thomas Jefferson Elementary Parent Teacher Association website.
Every voice is valued and appreciated at the TJ PTA and we hope each of you can join us to meet more familiar faces in the TJ Community, laugh a little and help plan another great year for our students, staff and families at TJ! As with the last couple of years, we will continue to hold all PTA meetings virtually this year. A Zoom link will be sent out for the year and will be the same link used each month. The attendance for the virtual meetings has been phenomenal and the brainstorming coming out of so many different voices has been amazing! You all are what make the PTA so great.
Upcoming Events:
1st PTA MEETING: August 23. Meeting begins at 7:15, and is available on Zoom for your convenience.
2nd PTA MEETING: September 13th, Meeting begins at 7:15, and is available on Zoom for your convenience.
Fall Fest and Back-to-School Picnic: Early October
Looking forward to a great year and getting to know you,
Becky Iacullo & Anne Epsom
