NLHS Student Update

Week of March 9

Update - Ohio's Next Generation of Assessments

Despite a gauntlet of delays and cancelations, our students have successfully completed the PARCC performance-based assessments, and will begin make-up testing this week.

Also this week, our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will begin taking the State-Developed Assessments in Physical Science, American History, and American Government. Here is the schedule:

Monday, March 9 - Physical Science (Class of 2018 only)

Tuesday, March 10 - American History (Class of 2015-2017*)

Wednesday, March 11 - American Government (Class of 2015-2017*)

*Students enrolled in AP U.S. History or A.P. Government and Politics are exempt from these assessments ONLY IF they are taking the A.P. exams in May.

PARCC Make-Up assessments will take place during the week, and all PARCC performance-based assessments should be completed no later than Wednesday, March 11.

Congratulations to NLHS Student Athletes

The boys and girls basketball teams recently concluded their seasons with losses in the sectional tournaments, but overall each time had a good season despite various hardships and obstacles to overcome. Congrats Panther Basketball!

Varsity wrestling finished 5th in the State Team tournament, and now (as of Friday afternoon) our wrestlers are competing as individuals in the district tournament.

Cheerleaders finished in 2nd place at the Champion Cheer Central President's Day Competition at John Glenn.

Congratulations to all of our excellent student athletes!

Calamity Day Update

We have currently used 19 calamity days. Subtracting our five excused calamity days and three blizzard bags, that leaves us with 11 days to make up.

We will make up one day on Thursday, April 2.

The other days will be made up at the end of the school year, unless another plan is put into place. As it currently stands, if we make up days at the end of the school year, the last day of school for students will be Friday, June 12.

As always, you will be notified if any changes to the make-up day schedule are made.
