Willow Weekly

July 4, 2021

Welcome to Willow Springs for 2021-22!

We are super excited to welcome our new families as well as our familiar faces to The Willow for the new school year! Every other week, we will communicate with families with a school newsletter (The Willow Weekly) that has updates, reminders and new information -to help you feel connected to what is going on at the school. Sometimes, we will send a voice message as well, but usually I like to send this in writing, so you can refer back to it.

Our families are the most important link for us, and we want to make sure that you have all the information you need.... especially when the building is not as accessible as you are accustomed to. Always feel comfortable to call us with any questions. Our school office number is 919.557.2770.

Meet the Teacher This Week

July 6 is for last names ending in A-L

July 7 is for last names ending in M-Z

Time: 2:30-4:00.

We hope to see you and your child.. it's an important way to ensure your child feels comfortable on the first day of school.

Remember, parents are not able to walk students into the building this year during school hours, so Meet the Teacher is more important than ever. Please bring any supplies you wish to send with you on Meet the Teacher to ease the load for your child on Thursday!

(**Kindergarten parents, you may bring students to the side door for the special entry on their staggered entry day... Look for the bengal and the balloons!)

School Starts on Thursday!!

For first grade through fifth grade, tracks 1,2 and 3 begin on Thursday, July 8. (Kindergarten has staggered entry, please check your assignment letter for your child's date!)

Our school hours are a little different this year: 9:20-3:50, so the first bell will ring at 8:50 to allow students into the classroom. Remember, we ask car-riders to be here by 9:00 if you want your child to eat breakfast, so they can get to the classroom and be ready to start the day on time.

We are continuing our safety and health protocols to keep your child safe and to slow the spread of Covid. Safety protocols are generally the same as they were when we tracked out (see below), but we will closely monitor the Healthy Schools Toolkit and update you on any changes. For now, visitors and volunteers are still only absolutely essential, which means that parents are not allowed to walk down to the classroom or have lunch with your child. No worries, though.. we have lots of folks stationed in the hallways to make sure that everyone knows where to go to find their classroom, and we will take extra good care of everyone!

Baby Bengal Road Trip Cam

One of the fun, inside the building things we have been doing this last year is a rolling video of pics for the kiddos to view as they travel through the school..it's our Willow cam.. We have highlighted our students reading, their pets, with masks, etc. . Next up is our Baby Bengal Road Trip cam, so if you took a little trip this year and you'd like to share a picture of your child on the trip, click here to send us a picture to be included on our BABY BENGAL ROAD TRIP CAM. (Trips don't have to be far... it could be down the road to go strawberry picking... just a great way to highlight our students!)

Happy July 4th!

We hope you are enjoying this beautiful day of celebrating our country! Our building will be closed on Monday in honor of the July 4th holiday, but we will be open again on July 6! WSES office hours are 8am-4:30pm.
