Mote's Note - A note from the Principal - Kyla Mote
September went by so fast! We enjoyed seeing you at our curriculum nights and look forward to seeing you October 7th for our Family night at the book fair. Students have been working hard in their classrooms and are already making academic growth. We thank you all for your participation in the PTO fundraiser, I can't wait to be silly stringed.
We are working on writing this year as a district which includes our handwriting program for Prek-5th grade. I would like to propose an opportunity for you to help us with this each month. For October, students are invited to write me a story about what they love about Black Elementary. If they write the letter in their own words and handwriting, I will write them back. The importance is that we are positively promoting writing as a skill for students. We have moved to the technology world so much that sitting with a pen or pencil is becoming harder and harder.
Please remember to read with your children as well. Reading for 10-20 minutes a day makes a world of difference.
We will continue posting classroom "wow's" on twitter, facebook, and instagram so please follow us.
