Arctic Blast
Glacier Ridge Elementary School 10.18.19
Dear Glacier Ridge Families,
Even with a short week we have been learning a lot! We love to see all of the amazing things happening in our building. Please be sure to sign up for conferences with your child's teacher to hear about all of the amazing things that are happening in their learning.
As the weather gets colder, please make sure to send your child to school with clothes that will keep them warm enough. It is jacket season! Students will be outside playing for recess and we want to make sure that they are ready for the cooler temperatures.

Picture Re-Takes - October 30th
We have scheduled our picture re-take day for Wednesday, October 30th. If you are completely dissatisfied with the photo of your student, i.e., eyes are closed, blurry, you can send the package back on re-take day and have the child's photo re-taken. (Color Portraits does not return packages for such things as messy hair or wrinkled clothing.) If your child was absent on picture day he/she can also have their picture taken at this time.
Halloween Celebration - October 31
Glacier Ridge parents are invited to attend our Halloween Parade on October 31st. The parade will be held outside and start between 2:10 and 2:15. Parents can view the parade along the sidewalks adjacent to Village Road, if the weather permits. (District procedure requires us to use our Raptor security system when visitors are in the building with children present. If it rains, our system and staff would not be able to handle verifying a large number of visitors in a timely manner. Should this occur, only students would be viewing the parade indoors.)
Classroom parties for our students will be held after the parade. (Unfortunately, we do not have the room to invite parents or siblings to the classrooms for the parties.) All parties are coordinated by the classroom teacher. Room parents will work with the teacher to help provide a fun experience.
Children should NOT wear costumes to school. Students will change into costumes just prior to the start of the parade. All costumes must be appropriate for school. Please refrain from fake weapons, scary costumes (including scary clowns) and/or inappropriate costumes. Please do not allow your children to bring aerosol sprays to color their hair. Students will put their costumes on just before the parade and should be able to get into it on his/her own or with a little assistance from a buddy fairly quickly.
Parent Teacher Conference Scheduling is Open thru ParentVue
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held in November. Our teachers are excited to share your student's progress thus far, as well as the goals they have for continued progress. (Remember we want your student present at conferences to share their achievements and goals.)
This year's conferences will be held:
Wednesday, November 20th 5:00pm-8:00pm Monday, November 25th 12:00pm-8:00pm
Tuesday, November 26th 8:00am-11:00am
Please log in to ParentVue and choose CONFERENCE from the left hand menu to choose a day and time that works for you and your student(s). (If you have more than one student you will have to select each student separately to choose a date a time for a conference.) Your response will be automatically submitted to the teacher, while at the same time marking that time slot filled. (The time slots visible when you login are the only time slots currently available.) If you need to change the time of your conference, log back in to ParentVue, choose CONFERENCE, un-select your current time which will then allow you to choose a new time. (Parent Teacher conferences CANNOT be scheduled using the ParentVUE app. Parents must log in via the Web browser.)
If you would like to have an encore (Art, LMC, Music, PE or STEM), speech, reading teacher, or social worker included in your conference, please contact your child's homeroom teacher so she can make arrangements for that individual to be present.
Please contact your teacher or the main office if you have any questions or concerns.
