A Note From The Principal
Booker T. Washington once said "Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed. NWEA scores have been coming in for the last two weeks. Some scholars have done well, while others faced some obstacles. Together we will succeed in spite of the current gaps in knowledge. Your current position does not define what we can achieve. We must always think of ways we can position ourselves for greatness.
Thank you parents! I was amazed at the number of eLearning scholars that journeyed to campus this week and last week to take part in our NWEA assessment. We will be sharing the results in depth with the entire staff during our professional development on Wednesday, September 30th. Keep in mind on that day every scholar will receive his/her instruction online (see details below). Once we have reviewed the data, we will share it with our scholars and parents. This will allow every parent knowledge of where their scholar is academically.
This past week has been a challenge for our eLearners, specifically those needing to access Blackboard. I have listened to your voices and concerns as we faced these obstacles. In the future anytime you have an issue with Blackboard please communicate with us and we will prepare packages for scholars to pick up and complete. Scholars will upload their completed documents to their teacher's email. Once the Blackboard issues have been corrected teachers will also go back and review missed standards and concepts to ensure scholars have every opportunity to succeed.
Determined to Succeed,
Dr. Sue Starr
What Is Your Principal Reading?
This week our scholars received Kickboard dollars for being able to tell me what you are reading. I was pleased at the number of male scholars that were reading. You are leading the board. Keep up the great work!
Virtual Learning Day
Second Quarter Requests
The window to change your scholar's placement for the second quarter is now open. If you are interested in your scholar changing from in person learning to remote learning or remote learning to in person learning, please fill out the form below. The window to apply for a change in placement is open until 12:00pm on Friday, October 2, 2020. Any scholar that does not opt for a change in placement will remain in their current selection for the remainder of the second quarter.
Only requests done through this form will be honored. We will not be accepting any requests through phone call or email. We will fill any available seats on a first come first serve basis. In person seats are extremely limited. Please understand that filling out this form does NOT guarantee your scholar will return to in person learning. Once the window closes at 12:00pm on Friday, we will enroll scholars as space permits. We will notify everyone that applies if their request has been approved via the phone number you provide on the survey. Any changes that are made will begin on Monday, October 12, 2020.
