Come to Martin de Leon's Colony!
By: Andrea, Vani and Surabhi
Location of the colony
The colony is located near Garcitas Creek and Guadalupe River. The colony is located by Izine, TX which is a major town and is very close to the lower part of the Guadalupe River. We have a good number of Mexicans in our colony because of Guadalupe Victoria which is another major town. The colony is located by Guadalupe and Lavaca rivers and Coleto, Garcitas, Arenosa, and Zorillo creeks.
Best Qualities of our Colony
Logs
Logs are found in abundance and they are used to build houses and citadels. Citadels are forts that offer protection to a city or colony.
Water
There are a lot of rivers and bays by this colony and saltwater and freshwater is always accessible. Not only that fish is always available.
Food and Crops
There is more than 100 acres of arable land (you can grow crops on the land) and beans, potatoes, corn and sugarcane are harvested from the land. The weather conditions are suitable for plant growth.
Families and Cost
41 families can be settled in the colony and each family gets 177 acres of arable land and 4,228 acres of usable land. The cost of the land is $150 for 177+ 4228 acres of land.
Requirements
A few of the requirements are......................
- You should be a Mexican citizen to be able to buy the land, but you do not need to be a citizen of Mexico if you are just settling in the land.
- You will have to give 10% of all harvests to Martin de Leon after the 10th year you have been here.
Advantages
A lot of colonies make you give tithes where you have to give 10% or more of the plants you harvest or 10% or more of the money you make etc. But in this colony none of that happens until your 10th year!
Cool Fact:
Did you know that right now (1800's) houses are less
than 1/ 100 of an acre. The colony has about 23,000 acres of land, which means that you get land that is 500x bigger than the place you live in.
