Week Of September 17th
Highlights From Last Week....
A peek at our learning this week...
In ELA, we will focus on the question "What can I do?" and continue to learn about rhyming words and will begin learning about syllables in words. We will practice "clapping" words and names and identifying how many syllables we hear. We are almost done being introduced to the capital and lowercase letters of the alphabet and their sounds. We will take a closer look at each letter in later weeks. It is so much fun to sing "The Alphabet Song" and look for things around us that start with letters and sounds of our own name. We will continue to practice turning and talking.
In Math, we will work on finding hidden partners in numbers. For instance, in the number five, two hidden partners might be 2 and 3 or 1 and 4. The children will love playing math detectives to find out the hidden partners in numbers. We will also learn about the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3. Number chants will be used in class to help us learn how to write the numbers. These chants will be shared with you at home so you can continue to help your child practice the correct number formation.
Notes from Mrs. Maillet
We had a GREAT week! Our kids are doing fantastic with the rules and routines!!
CHIPS and ICE CREAM at lunch: As you know, breakfast and Lunch are free, however the cafeteria does sell chips and ice cream for an extra charge of $.75 and $1.00. If your child is coming home and asking for ice cream and chips at lunch, this is what they are talking about. It is not necessary to send in extra money daily unless you want them to purchase these items.
Book Orders:
I placed the book order on Friday! I will send home the books as soon as they come in! Thank you for your support!
Thank you for all you do, keep up the great work!
Notes from Mrs. Webb
We had a great treat on Wednesday as we read books with our new 4th grade buddies! Ms LaRoche's class read to us and we brought cookies! This is a practice we will be adding to our schedule for Wednesday afternoons! So much fun!
As the weather begins to change and students come to school with coats and sweatshirts, I ask that you plelase label your child's clothing with his/her initials. There are often articles of clothing left behind and I don't always know who they belong to. Thank you!
I will be sending out the Scholastic Book Orders on Friday (September 21). New book order forms for October will be sent home in a few weeks.
Have a great week!
Notes from Mrs. Goldthwaite
I have put in our book orders for September. When that order comes in I will send out Octobers order forms. Thank you for participating. I LOVE to see books in our children's hands.
The reading logs are coming in and the students are so excited to be going to the prize box.
Your continued support with the math home work is not going unnoticed. We have introduced the sight words "I" and "can" hope you have time to go over those words. It is so important to learn those words for reading fluency. Keep up the great work.
We have a class book going home that is to be shared and brought back. "I Love My School Shoes" , When it is your child's turn the directions are in there for you to read and follow. They love to take it home.
Please label all clothes. Those sweaters and sweatshirts get left behind in cafe or gym class. I try my best to know who has what but I am not always that great at it.
REMINDER: NO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY!
I am looking forward to another great week.
Notes from Ms. Berube
I have just signed up for schoolastic books online and have a code for our class and I will be sending order forms for October.
I am impressed with the reading logs that are coming back and seeing the books everyone is reading. Keep up the good work!
Also reminder there is no school on Wednesday as it is teacher professinal development.
As always thank you and have a great week!!
Notes from Mrs. Marcoux
Many children are asking to buy ice cream, while lunch is free the ice cream costs .75 each. If you'd like to send in money for ice cream just label the bag so we know who it belongs to.
We read with our 4th grade buddies on Friday, thank you to Mrs. Beaulac's class for reading with us! We are looking forward to doing it again this Friday.
Reminder: There is a teacher professional development on Wednesday, this means no school for the children.
Thank you for all you do and have a great week!
