Principal's Message
Hello Wildcat Pride,
Gilbert Public Schools will be returning to hybrid instruction on Monday, December 7, 2020. (For complete information please refer to the email that was sent from the district on Thursday, December 3, 2020. attached below)
Students whose last names are A-L will attend on Monday and Thursday. Students whose last names begin with M-Z will attend on Tuesday and Friday. Wednesday’s will be used for remote learning. Students who are not attending in person will have coursework assigned daily, so expect that if your child is not physically at school, they have school work that needs to be completed. In addition, with the last week of the semester approaching, teachers will communicate directly with students regarding the format and expectations for any end of semester exams or projects that are assigned. There will not be a special "final exam” schedule during the week of December 14-18. We will follow the regular schedule for hybrid classes on with December 17 and 18 being half days with an 11:20 release time. The hybrid and half day schedule is attached below in the press.
In order to be counted present, students must log into Buzz on the days that they are not physically attending school. If they do not log in by 12:00 you will receive an auto call about their attendance. They then have until midnight to log into Buzz before the absence is recorded and counted.
Requests for changes to the days students are assigned to attend class at this point, will only be made for households with siblings with split last names. We cannot accommodate all requests due the need to keep the student population as evenly split as possible. If you have questions about your alpha split please contact your child’s counselor by calling the school at 480-632-4750 ex. 1134. Students who are experiencing internet issues should contact Mrs. Berry at extension 1138 space is available on a limited basis during hybrid instruction. Meal pick up is also available during the hybrid learning period. Information regarding meal pick up is also below.
As we enter the last couple of weeks of the semester, please check your child’s progress, by checking the Buzz portal or by contacting your child’s teachers directly. They are always your best source of information regarding how your child is progressing.
Finally, thank you for your ongoing support. This has been incredibly challenging for all of us, students, families, and educators, alike. We do know that the Wildcats will get persevere together!
Thanks for being great partners in keeping our doors open,
Rod Huston

Buzz Refresh: Tips and Hints!
If students are experiencing issues while in WebEx or other applications, they can try these 3 things:
If parents or students would like to check their grades, how much time was spent in Buzz, what the "Green Checks" mean (it simply means that the item was viewed NOT that it was submitted!!) and if something was submitted or not, here is a video talking about that!

AzCIS is a comprehensive career information for students to develop and update their education and career action plan. AzCIS includes tools that encourage self-assessment, exploration, research, goal setting, and decision-making.
All MHS students should use AzCIS on a regular basis to develop their career plan. Click here for instructions on how students can access AzCIS. This week, we encourage students to use AzCIS to complete a personal or career assessment and set goals for the future. Click here to see the list of career-planning tools AzCIS has available. We also encourage parents to review and discuss the assessment results and goals in AzCIS with your student to help prepare for the future.
