*Urgent* Tell Us Of Your Learning Preference
Changes to physical distancing rules have allowed for our school to increase the amount of students we serve in person each day. To determine how we can safely increase student days in school, please update your preference for learning.
Your choice of learning model (either all-virtual, two-day hybrid, or four-day in-person) will be final for the remainder of the year. To prepare for a change will take additional time. We will organize and plan to ensure we can serve your student safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Attention #1: If you choose four-day in-person, it is highly likely your student's schedule, including teacher assignment, will change. Because the restructuring of the academic day takes time, it may be a couple of weeks to prepare for four-day in-person instruction.
Attention #2: For all families - Because we want to serve our families in the capacity which meets their needs best, we may also need to make slight changes to the bell schedule.
Attention #3: All COVID precautions must continue to be met according to "Ready Schools, Safe Learners." In-person school will continue to look, feel different than a traditional school year.

Student Health Survey: April 6
The Student Health Survey (SHS) is a collaborative effort with the Oregon Department of Education to improve the health and well-being of all Oregon students to help them succeed. Good health is an essential educational tool. No curriculum is brilliant enough to compensate for a hungry stomach or distracted mind. Trauma, hunger, mental health challenges, bullying and lack of access to necessary medical care make it difficult for Oregon youth to reach their full potential.
Research shows that healthy students have better attendance, get higher grades and test scores and are less likely to skip school, drop out or engage in risky behaviors. The Student Health Survey is the only source of statewide data that gives a snapshot of how students are doing physically, emotionally and socially.Sports!
Currently the Mt. Hood/ The Gorge middle school league is planning to follow OSAA policies as closely as possible. The league has set the official start of practices for volleyball and cross country on March 1st. We are following the state guides, found at https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/le3461.pdf and in the attached pictures. Currently Clackamas county is in the Yellow (Moderate Risk) and can have both indoor and outdoor practices for sports.

Volleyball & Cross Country -
March 1st - April 8th
Track & Field -
April 12th- May 20th
Basketball & Wrestling - (Schedule still to come)
May 10th - June 26th (tentative)
Excused Absences
Regardless of their excused absence, your student will continue to be required to submit any work that was missed at the soonest possible opportunity.
We are flexible and here to support you, but we also need to ensure that your student is providing us with evidence of their progress to meet our essential learning standards.
Unexcused Absences
1.Participate meaningfully in class activities (Fully complete school work, speak up in Zoom sessions, ask questions of their teachers on Zoom and/or in Canvas and finish and submit responses to assignments and/or surveys)
2.Communicate with their teacher or another staff member for each period they attend by responding to their teacher's prompts, sending a private message via Canvas or email about the task or assignment if they are not participating live. This communication is not simply saying, "I'm here." It must show a greater level of engagement to count toward being present that day.
If your student has difficulty accessing videos, Zoom meetings or assignments, please have them email their teacher as soon as possible to receive suggestions for how to resolve the issue, so they can be marked present for that class.
