Ms. Samuel's Instructions
for Distance Learning
We Got This!
Wow! This is by far the craziest situation that has ever happened in my 10 years of teaching. We are going to make this work though. I’ve got some strong students. If I think about all of the classes I’ve taught over the years, I can’t think of a better group of kids to be able to handle this than you guys! (You know I’m not one to mince words, so that must be true.)
Learning online is NOT easy! As a matter of fact, it’s actually more difficult, because it requires more self-discipline. As I sit here typing this very moment I can hear the birds chirping outside my window. I’d much rather be sitting on my balcony listening to nature’s song with a homemade cup of Chai Tea in my hand. I can’t do that though, because you are counting on me. And I am counting on you. Let’s go ahead and make a commitment to each other to give our absolute best to this distance learning experience. It’s up to us to make the best of this. I understand that no amount of distance learning can replace, well… me, but let’s agree to do our absolute best!

Important Information
Grade Recovery
Please remember that 4th Nine Weeks does not offer time for grade recovery. It is even more imperative that you keep up with your distance learning work, as well as the work when we return to the traditional classroom.
I will be sending out grade recovery for 3rd Nine Weeks electronically later this week. So, be on the lookout for that if you need it. You will still need to make sure that you and a parent/guardian have signed your grade recovery contract, so please be prepared to send that signed document back to me electronically.
Technical Difficulties
Please don’t stress about technical difficulties. We've got enough to stress about at the moment. Technical difficulties will happen. However, if difficulties with technology begin to become a pattern, it will be an issue I am prepared to address. Remember, we need to come together right now and make this work as best as we can. Please make sure you have done your best to figure out any hiccups you may encounter during this journey. The most important thing is going to be that you communicate with me as soon as you are able. I will not be able to solve all of your technical issues, so please be mindful of that. Again, patience and grace are going to be key!
All of the resources we will be using are mobile-friendly.
