The Inventor Of The Steam Engine
Thomas Savery is the inventor of the crude steam engine. Later, Savery worked with Thomas Newcomen on the atmospheric steam engine, and improved it.James Watt was a Scottish inventor and mechanical engineer, born in Greenock, who was renowned for his improvements of the steam engine. In 1765, James Watt while working for the University of Glasgow was assigned the task of repairing a Newcomen engine, which was deemed inefficient but the best steam engine of its time. That started the inventor to work on several improvements to Newcomen's design. So yes... he improved it, too.

Any questions...Well here you go!!
HOW DOES THE STEAM ENGINE WORK?
The steam is released into a chamber at high pressure. The steam expands against a piston. When the steam is released, it moves back to its original position. More steam flows in and does it again. The back-and-forth movement of the piston causes the other part to turn a wheel or do some other work.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE STEAM ENGINE?
Steam engines use the power of steam to operate machines.
