Early life

Mother Teresa was born on August 26th, 1910 and baptized the next day. Her full name is Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu. Her parents are Nikolle and Dranafile Bojaxhiu. She has two siblings, Lazar and Aga Bojaxhiu. She was born in Skopje, the Republic of Maceadonia.

Early life continued

When she was eight, Mother Teresa's father suddenly became ill and died. Nobody knew why he did, but some people thought political enemies poisoned him. Mother Teresa attended a convert-run primary school, and she also sang in the local Sacred Heart choir. She was often asked to do a solo


Later on

Mother Teresa went to school at the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The congregation made an annual pilgrimage to the chapel of Madonna of Letnice at the top of Black Mt. in Skopje. It was one such trip that 12 year old Mother Teresa first felt a calling to a religious life.

Mother Teresa taught in India fo f 17 years. Then she got her "call within a call" to devote herself to caring for the sick, orphand, poor and dying in 1946. Her order established a hospice, centers for the blind, aged, disabled, and a leper colony. For years Mother Teresa ministerd the sick, poor, orphand, and dying. She was summoned to Rome in 1968. In 1979, she recived the Nobel Peace Prize.

Mother Teresa died in 1997, on September the 5th. She was know as a humanitarian hero and a passionate advocate for the poor and helpless around the world
