St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 10 | 6 April 2023

Good afternoon,
I would like to start today with some staffing news. After 15 years in our school community, both as a staff member and as a parent, one of our Year 6 teachers, Janice Cairns, has made the decision to resign.
Janice's genuine enthusiasm and generosity have made her a valued member of the St Bernadette's community. Over the years she has organised extra-curricular activities such as the: Runners Club, Gardening Club and the ever-popular Scottish Dancing Club, just to name a few.
Janice has valued the relationships she has forged with students, staff and the wider community and we wish her all the best for her future endeavours.
It has been a fun, relaxed and prayerful end to the term here at Bernie’s. Our students have entertained us with the second Edudance concert on Wednesday, and we launched our new social skills program, Friendology, with our Friendship Day! The upbeat, positive vibe around our school has been infectious and I thank Mrs Deshon, Mrs Watson and their team for organising these activities.
On Wednesday we also came together as a school to reflect and recreate the events of Holy Week. Our Year 5 students re-enacted the Stations of the Cross on Wednesday in church to students across the school. All students are to be commended for their preparation and reverent participation in the re-enactment.
As a school community, we can all identify with the death and resurrection of Jesus by reflecting on our own ups and downs of our life experiences. We all experience varied emotions such as pain and rejection alongside the joys of life with our family and friends and the beauty of the nature surrounding us. As term one draws to a close, let us turn our attention to the final moments of the Lenten season. That we now stop and reflect on Christ’s death and resurrection. Easter is a time for us to remember that Jesus is with us at all times, including when we are in most need of hope.
We would also like to congratulate Mrs Jess Tanner who is expecting her second child towards the end of the year.
I hope everyone has an amazing holiday period, recharges the batteries and I can’t wait to see you all back for another great term.
Geordie
