Principal's Memo
GREATNESS: 80 more MVHS Seniors qualified to either take College Algebra or English DC in the Spring by passing the TSI (College Entrance Exam), Girl's Basketball is 3-0 in district play, Powerlifting, Girl's and Boy's Soccer start their regular seasons this week
- This semester in February students will be notified of what Track they are on. Attached below is our Flex Year policy. This is different from our Semester Exemptions. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the Flex Year Policy.
- As we start a new year, it can be a time to discuss Cyber Safety with your child. We are sharing these tools and resources to open the door to a greater conversation with our kids about social media and their “Digital Footprint.” The Texas School Safety Center has developed the following resources for parents in regards to school safety and Cyber Safety: A Parent’s Guide to School Safety Toolkit and Cyber Safety and Digital Responsibility Parent Guide We will also be doing lessons at school through our Social Studies classes that discuss School Safety and Cyber Safety.

UIL Academics Update
This past Saturday (December 4th), the UIL Academics team traveled to Bandera High School for their first full meet of the year. The Panthers had a fantastic showing and placed 3rd overall beating schools like Carrizo Springs and Del Valle. The individual results are as follows:

Girl's Basketball Update
VS. Eagle Pass Winn
The Varsity girls traveled to Eagle Pass to play in their first district game of the season against the CC Winn Mavericks. The girls dominated the game from the tip-off, even out scoring the Mavericks 28-1 in the third quarter. Leading the way for the Panthers was Clara Arroyos with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 deflections followed by Kylie Mutz who had her first double double of the season with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 deflections.
The JV panthers traveled to Eagle Pass to take on CC Winn high school. They came out strong and led 31-2 at halftime. They finished with a 41-13 win and a strong start to district play. They were led by Myranda Perales and Cara Garcia with 6 points each.
The panthers traveled to Eagle Pass Friday to play against CC Winn HS. The freshman panthers fell to the mustangs 31-48. With a tough battle, they were led in scoring by Tori Ruffin with 12 points and Rihanna Perez with 10 points.
Holiday Break
On Dec. 21st, the Varsity Girls Basketball team hosted the Floresville Jaguars dominating from start to finish winning by a score of 78-29. The girls were led by Ileana Morales with a team high 20 points and 5 steals. Kylie Mutz had a great game with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Morgan Henrich finished the game with an outstanding 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
On Dec. 30th, the girls closed out 2021 when they hosted the Southwest Dragons. The girls again had a great game winning 71-32. Ileana Morales led in scoring with 18 points. Kellie Harlow had her best game of the season with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Kaylyn Persyn chipped in with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. This brings the girls district record to 3-0. The girls will travel to McCollum Tuesday night for an important district game. Go Panthers!
Boy's Soccer Update
12-15-2021
The boys varsity soccer team had their 2nd scrimmage of the year against SA Veterans Memorial. The Panthers took the lead when Travis Barton shot the ball and the goalie deflected it back into play and Yerson Gonzalez put it in the back of the net. Veterans tied the game, but the Panthers took the lead back on a goal from Oscar Gonzalez. THe Panthers had a 2-1 lead at half. In the second half Veterans Memorial was able to score one goal and the game finished 2-2. The Panthers next scrimmage is at home on Friday against Boerne Champion.
The JV boys played Veterans memorial yesterday and won 4-3. Veterans memorial started off opening the scoring within the first 5 minutes. The Panthers answered back with a spectacular goal from Gael Hernandez off an Assist from Pedro Sandoval. Both teams fought hard until the very end where Rocco Parra would score in the last 20 seconds off an assist from Kevin Villarreal to bring it 4-3. Alfredo Salas and Ajay Stephen also added goals.
Holiday Break
The boys varsity soccer team had their last 3 scrimmages over the break. The 1st game was a 2-0 loss to Boerne Champion. The 2nd game was the 10th Annual Alumni game and the Panthers won 3-2. Jorge Patino had 2 assists and a goal, Axel Mendez and Roberto Tapia each had a goal. Scoring for the Alumni team was graduates Oscar Suarez and Jose Suarez. The last scrimmage was a loss against Taft. Scoring for the Panthers was Alan Segura with 3 goals and Jorge Patino with one. The Panthers start the non-district part of their schedule Tuesday, January 5th against the Memorial Minutemen.
