LEARNING MODEL CHANGE OPPORTUNITY
RISD parents have the opportunity in advance of each quarterly grading period to change the instructional choice for students. The window of opportunity to request a change for how your child receives instruction for the second grading period, either virtual or face to face, will be offered from September 29 through October 2. Please carefully consider your choice, as once a change is made, then that will be your child’s instructional model throughout the second grading period until the third quarterly grading period begins on January 5.
If you would like to change the instructional choice for your child for the second quarterly grading period, you must complete the Google form (to be sent on September 29) no later than Friday, Oct 2 at 10:00 a.m. Our Student Data Specialists will confirm your change.
The second grading period begins on October 19 and ends on December 18. If you are changing your child’s instructional choice, you and your child will be contacted by your virtual or face to face teacher(s) prior to the first day of instruction on October 19. To accommodate all of the changes, this may cause your child’s schedule/teacher to change.
Parents who do not wish to change the instructional choice for their student do not need to respond or take any further action. The change process is only for families who wish to change their choice. Please note that because of the substantial scheduling challenges and limitations inherent to providing two simultaneous types of instruction, RISD is unable to accommodate requests for changes outside of the window in advance of each new grading period.

SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS
On Tuesday, September 29th, and Wednesday, September 30th, Prestige Portraits will be on campus to take Class of 2021 Senior Portraits.
Face-to-Face (F2F) students will take pictures during their scheduled English 4 class on either 9/29 or 9/30. For virtual learners, they will need to report to Berkner HS during the time of their scheduled English 4 class on either 9/29 or 9/30. F2F students will be photographed in the small gym. Virtual students will enter the building through the gym foyer doors located in the parking lot nearest S. Yale Blvd. Virtual students will enter the foyer, complete a health screener, take their photo in the foyer and exit through the same door that they entered. Virtual students will not be allowed in any other part of the building.
F2F students do not need to sign up as they will be attending during their scheduled English class.
**Please remember that students should only be signing up during times that their scheduled English class meets for attendance purposes.** Virtual students must sign up for a 9/29 (B-day) slot HERE or a 9/30 (A-day) slot HERE. Photographers have requested that no more than 15 students sign-up per 15 minutes. If a student signs up for a time that is not during their scheduled English class, their attendance will reflect absent for any class periods that they miss, with the exception of their scheduled English class. If a student has a 1st or 8th period English class and the time slots for Tuesday 9/29 are full, they will be able to sign up for an available time slot during that class period on the following day, Wednesday, 9/30. If the senior student has already been photographed by Prestige, they will not need to retake their photos. If a student has not yet been photographed and does not attend school on the dates scheduled for Prestige portraits at BHS, the only option at that time will be for the student/parent to schedule an appointment with Prestige portrait studios.
Parents of virtual students, if you sign your student up for a time slot, please ensure that you are entering your students information and not yours. We will need this for attendance purposes.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Marcus Mince (Assistant Principal) at marcus.mince@risd.org or Mrs. Anne Aello (Yearbook Sponsor) at anne.aello@risd.org
