A Message From the Principal
Happy Friday Titans!
This week I counted my "Lucky Stars" as my Titans came back from Spring Break! It was time again to help our Titans shine bright like diamonds in the sky. I had no doubt that our teachers had prepared our students for their best performance!
On Thursday, our Titans "Reached for the Stars" as they embarked upon the Georgia Milestones. Parents, I cannot thank you enough for making sure that your children arrived on time and in tip-top condition for the tests. Out of 1036 students, only twelve students were absent! Please let's have a sweet repeat, and send me your children in the same manner as Thursday!
Great job to all of our Titans on the technology! Our Titans brought their laptops fully charged and ready to test. All phones were turned on airplane mode and it made all the difference. It alleviated the stress on the bandwidth and we did not experience the issues from last year. The testing process was smooth. Thank you to Dr. Brown our testing Commander in Chief! Also, thank you to our Technology Specialists, Cindy Ball, Vani Jacobs, and Trent Stapleton. Thank you to all of our proctors, administrators, and the Connections staff, along with the whole testing team for ensuring we were organized and ready to go! Next week, we will be doing an encore performance on Monday and Wednesday, as our Titans continue the Georgia Milestones Tests!
Speaking of star performances, if you were at the Titans Got Talent showcase, you were in for a treat. A special thank you to Mrs. Georgia Bickel and Mrs. Rodman for your hard work in putting this show together. The opening and closing ensemble acts were spectacular, and the individual acts deserved a standing ovation. It was a pleasure to see our stars up on stage!
Sincerely,
Kindra L. Smith, Ed.S

⚠️ Carpool Considerations...Parents, Please be Courteous and Safety Conscious ⚠️
Carpool Rules and Courtesies:
- Please stay in cars at ALL TIMES! Staying inside your car speeds things up, and getting out of your car slows things down.
- Do NOT pop trunks. This slows the line down. Please have your child enter the cabin of the vehicle with their instrument and backpack.
- No skirting the carpool line by parking! When you park and grab your child across the carpool line, this caused disruption to the carpool. This is an unsafe practice. This slows down carpool. It causes students to walk across traffic lanes. This also puts our staff in an awkward situation. This behavior is not considerate to parents following the procedure.
- Respect the Kid Zone! Please do not gesture to your child to come down past the safe carpool loading area. Safety and expeditious carpool loading are our goals.
- Carpool runs 14 minutes total from the dismissal bell. We realize that parents may arrive as early as 3:15 pm to wait in the carpool line. We ask you to allow 15 more minutes in your waiting time. The carpool line is a necessary part of the procedure.
We only have a few more weeks of school, please help us to make carpool a pleasant end to the day. Thank you for keeping carpool moving, and improving.
Georgia Milestones Testing Schedule
9th Grade ELA - High School Prep on Monday, April 16th @ 9:05 am
Online Health & PE Course Info for Rising 9th-Grade Students
Clearing up some confusion on the "Online" Health & PE Courses Info for Rising 9th-Grade Students:
To register your child for a summer online course at the high school level, please contact Mr. WIll Jones at jonesw3@fultonschools.org.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- * To register your rising 9th-grader for an online summer course, you MUST contact your middle school guidance counselor for the class to count towards high school credit. If your child registers prior to their promotion from middle school, the counselor needs to APPROVE the summer course. High school summer course registration opened in March 2018.
- ** Health must be taken in order for a student to get their drivers license, but not to get a permit. Students must present proof of high school attendance to the DMV to get their permit. To get their license, students must complete Health course which includes all DVM requirements. NOTE: Please research the Georgia Driver License Requirements to make sure your child's online Health class meets all the requirements.
- *** PE & HEALTH MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE FOUR YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL. They are high school graduation requirements.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
- The high school Health & PE courses may be taken any semester as a .5 semester class or online during the summer. These .5 credit classes must be taken prior to graduation.
- Health is a requirement to get a Georgia Drivers License.
- Parents are responsible for the payment of online summer courses.
- Health and PE courses which are taken at the high school during the school year are free of charge.

PLAN FOR THE SUMMER & LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Camp Invention
This is a great opportunity for students to work with experienced Camp Instructors to be a positive mentor and coach, encourage and inspire children to push the limits of their imagination, collaborate, and ignite team spirit and fun. At the end, each CIT will receive program certification and an official recommendation letter.
Here’s a brief description of Camp Invention and all the adventures that it entails:
Wild and crazy ideas become reality in this year’s all-new Camp Invention program, Fast Forward!
A nonprofit program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Camp Invention allows children in kindergarten through 6th grade to experience real-world problem solving, creative thinking, invention, and teamwork – all while having FUN! Activities include challenges and achievements from the brightest thinkers around—National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees – to inspire children! This year, campers will bring their “smart” home to life with smart furniture and eco-smart energy, design a robotic dog and diagnose puppy problems, explore sensors by designing tracks for an Optibot, a robot that senses dark and light surfaces, and builds Cake Catapults! Local educators lead the week of fun, hands-on, STEM activities that allow children to think big, explore their curiosity, and never give up.
Early registration discounts are available. Visit campinvention.org or call 800.968.4332 to register.
