Sketchnoting: Visual Tools to Deepen Student Learning
Making the Learning Stick
It's that time of year! You have taught so much of the Core, but still have a ways to go. You are worried about not preparing students properly for EOL testing, whatever it may be. I introduced Sketchnoting at our opening faculty meeting and my belief in its power has not diminished. I have been using it on my own and it has enriched every area I have used it in. I hope you will try it. Only one of you has taken me up on my offer to help with a lesson. I promise you can make fun of me all you want as I teach your kids, but I would love to work on my new passion with them. I promise I won't waste their time and will prepare for whatever you ask me to do. If you don't want me to do it, please do something yourself. Which of the skills below do you NOT want your students to develop?

Doodling is Thinking
This is a simple guide to teaching sketching. Might be a great way to use your SEL/mindfulness time to give kids a chance to develop a new skill.
You Can Doodle
A very basic library for doodling. Learning to doodle simple objects can give kids a chance to analyze wholes and parts, breaking objects down into simple shapes as they learn.
