2020 Yearbook Update
Congratulations to Sage Barnes!
On Wednesday, May 20, the Cape Cod Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) began delivering their Good Citizens Awards and will complete deliveries by Friday, May 29. Due to the current CoVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions, the DAR’s annual formal ceremony was not possible. Instead of an in-person celebration, members of the Cape DAR Chapter created a “parade” of sorts and visited each of the homes of Good Citizens to hand-deliver the awards, using social distancing and protections. Graduating seniors from 14 Cape Cod high schools who were chosen by their school staff and their peers were honored. Each of the Good Citizens received monetary awards, pins and certificates of achievement. William Davis, of Sturgis Charter East, was the winner of the $500 essay scholarship and was entered in the Massachusetts State DAR competition which vies for National DAR scholarships. Davis received an American flag that had been flown over the Capitol Building. Emma Marks, of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, was the runner-up and received a check for $250. All other DAR Good Citizens were awarded gift cards, as well as certificates and pins. Other Class of 2020 seniors being honored from Cape high schools include: Rajani Mahabir - Barnstable High School, Jaimon Scott - Bourne High School, Marcella Larrabee – Cape Cod Technical High School, Ava Poole – Falmouth Academy, Emily Nelson – Falmouth High School, Anna O’Neill - Mashpee High School, Sage Barnes – Monomoy Regional High School, Kay McNamara – Nauset Regional High School, William Francis Coty IV – Saint John Paul II High School, Molly Kent – Sandwich High School, Sophie Strano – Sturgis Charter West, and Taylor Charlton – Upper Cape Cod Technical High School. This scholarship contest is sponsored annually by the Capt. Joshua Gray – Jonathan Hatch Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution on Cape Cod and all sixteen Cape Cod high schools are eligible to participate.
CV History Project Essay Contest
"On behalf of the CV History Project and Harwich Historical Society we would like to congratulate the 54 students who took part in the essay contest. All of the students did a wonderful job and we were so pleased that they put so much effort into researching their ethnic heritage.
It was a difficult choice but we selected 7 students for the top honors. Each student will receive a certificate and a gift card in the mail.
Here are the top 7:
Ryder Robbins
James Fernandes
Connor Nicholson
Cara Jolibois
Sharon Rodriguez
Kimberly Parker
Duncan Rambler
An additional high five to Rich Houston and Kevin Bates for allowing us to come into their classes to make our presentation. These two teachers are definitely outstanding stars of MRHS."

Phase 2 Learning Plan
Quarter 4 will begin April 30 through June 22. Quarter 4 grades will be kept on Aspen. While Quarter 4 grades will be issued at the end of the year in Aspen, THE GRADE WILL ONLY HELP THE STUDENT’S SEMESTER OR YEAR GRADE.
QUARTER 4 COUNTS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, as failure to participate in distance learning will result in a lack of credit for the quarter. Students cannot academically fail Quarter 4, but they can fail to participate and fail to earn credit towards graduation. Administration will override and provide only 3 credits when appropriate.
Seniors - send guidance your post-graduation plans!
Please ensure that seniors have communicated to their guidance counselor with their post-graduation plans. Counselors will send final transcripts through Naviance when official grades are posted.

ATHLETIC NEWS
Due to the current COVID - 19 Pandemic all fall sports start dates are subject to change. We will communicate any changes once they are available. For planning purposes we are going forward with the MIAA scheduled start dates, as we would any other year.
As we get ready for summer and look towards the fall we have some High School Sports updates and important dates you want to be aware of.
- As of today, June 1st, Family ID is open and ready for fall sports registrations. All fall athletes must register on Family ID.
- All fall athletes must have a current physical on file with the school nurse prior to the first practice/tryout. We strongly urge you to contact your physicians office to make arrangements for virtual physicals if an in person physical is not possible.
- All high school fall athletes must complete the free online concussion course at NFHSlearn.com and submit the printed completion certificate to our Athletic Trainer Taylor Murray at tmurray@monomoy.edu, prior to the first practice/tryout. This course is valid for one year only so it must be renewed every year.
- Preparticipation head injury forms must also be submitted to Taylor Murray.
- All high school student-athletes must also have a current Impact Test. These will most likely take place in August and more information will follow regarding testing. If you have a question regarding Impact Testing please contact Taylor Murray at tmurray@monomoy.edu.
Football is scheduled to start August 21st. All other high school fall sports are scheduled to start August 24th. We have our Fall Meet The Coaches Night scheduled for Monday August 17th at 6:00pm in the Auditorium. It is possible this will be changed to a virtual meeting but more communication will follow as we learn more regarding state guidelines.
I will be sending a reminder email out at the beginning of August and as we learn of any new developments or changes.
Have a restful and peaceful summer. Don't forget to register on Family ID! Thank you for your time.
Karen Guillemette, CAA
Director of Athletics
