News From the Principal

Due to our low student numbers, MRCS is being reduced a teacher. The staff reduction effects the KinderReady, Kindergarten and 1st grade classes.

  • Jen LaRoe, our KinderReady teacher is being reassigned to another school.
  • Lisa Currier, will be teaching KinderReady
  • Rebecca Stankee will be teaching a K/1.
  • Erin Carriker will be teaching Kindergarten
  • MaryAnn Love will be teaching 1st grade

Classes will be reconfigured and some students will be moving to a new class. This is not an ideal situation, especially after four weeks of school. The teachers are working together planning the best way for students to meet their new classmates and teachers. Throughout the week of September 12, students will spend time socializing in their new cohorts. September 19 is the first day students will be with their new teacher all day. If your child is effected by this change or in KinderReady, you will receive an email this weekend with details.

Soaring Eagle Newsletter

We have had some difficulties sending the newsletter as an attachment. The school sends out a weekly newsletter on Friday afternoon and it seems that many families have not received it. We also post it to our MRCS Facebook page and the school website. We are trying this new format. Thanks for your patience as we sort this through.

Lego Robotics

Lego Robotics Team is looking for a coach and to have a team that represents MRCS! First Lego League Robotics is always a big hit with the kids! 3-4-5 grade students meet after school learning how to build and program robotics and research solutions to a problem. There is a community wide event in December where students present their research and their robots are programmed to complete challenges. We have a mentor coach who would love to help you learn how to coach a team. Call Ms. Hoover if you’re interested.

ICU (I See You)

Thank you to the 4th and 5th grades who have been respectful and kind in their classes and out at recess! We really appreciate their leadership skills and modeling how students at MRCS conduct themselves. They enjoyed open seating at lunch as a thank you! Keep up the good work!

Extra Backpacks

We have a surplus of backpacks that have been donated to MRCS. If you child is in need of a new backpack let their teacher or the office know and we will get one out to your child.

Site Council / PTO

MRCS is rebuilding their Site Council and PTO. The MRCS Site Council was created and empowered by the City and Borough of Juneau School Board of Education to represent the membership of the MRCS community on an advisory capacity. The council shall address issues brought by it membership and its constituencies

The Site Council usually meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 5:15 - 6:15 pm in the Library.

PTO is also rebuilding this year. If you would like information on the parent organization, what they do and how they support MRCS email or call Ms. Hoover.
