TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More
Principal Young's News:
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, a time when communities across the country team up to bring attention to diabetes. This year's focus is on managing diabetes by building your health care team.
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. It affects 37 million Americans, including adults and youth. Everyday in America, 35 children are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. That is more than one child every hour.
This month, we acknowledge more than 37 million Americans living with diabetes who inspire us to develop better treatment options, make life-saving medicines more affordable, and finally find a cure for this disease.
In other news, we have one full week of school next week, before our Thanksgiving holiday break. Vista Teachers and Staff want to send all of our Vista families warm wishes during this upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. There are so many things to be thankful for. We hope you and your families all have a very healthy, relaxing and happy Thanksgiving break!
Warmly,
Principal Young
Reminders:
Cooler Weather in the Forecast: As the weather gets cooler these next months ahead, please make sure your child has a sweatshirt, sweater, or jacket for school. The early mornings can be chilly when students arrive to school and the wind seems to change throughout the day.
Lost & Found News: Please LABEL all of your child's sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, backpacks and lunch bags. We have quite a collection of LOST items that are located at the front of the school, outside of the office. After 3 weeks of collecting LOST items, we will be making a donation to a local charity organization as it is just too many LOST items that do not get picked up. Please stop by the front of the office and check the Lost & Found rack.

Neighbors and Trash:
It has been brought to my attention by a few neighbors that a lot of trash is accumulating at the sidewalks and front yards of neighbors' houses. Please help keep the neighborhood clean by throwing away your garbage. Thank you!
Daily Attendance:
Please call the school office at (805) 520-6750 to report your child's absence. Parents and guardians have up to 5 days to report their student's absence, otherwise, the absence becomes a truancy/unexcused absence.
School Start Time and Gates:
Our gates open at 7:40 a.m. each day.
Students eating breakfast can enter the front gate of the school starting at 7:35 a.m.
The first bell rings at 7:55 a.m. Teachers and students should be at their classroom line by the 7:55 a.m. bell.
The tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. If students enter the gates after 8:00 a.m., they will be considered tardy.
*Starting these healthy life habits of being on time, sets your student up for success.
PLEASE NOTE:
Cafeteria milk is NOT free when students bring their lunch from home. Students can pay 50 cents per milk carton OR go through the line and MUST order a fruit AND a vegetable.
