How can families help with School-wide BINGO?
On Friday, May 3 all Franklin students will be playing BINGO during the afternoon. We will announce numbers over the intercom system as students are in classrooms with their BINGO cards. This means that there will be roughly 450 students playing at once and there will be many, many winners for each round.
We are looking for prize donations. Below is a list of inexpensive items that families could donate:
Candy, Stuffed animals, Coloring books, Books, Hot wheels, Pop, Juice boxes, Pencils, Pens, Markers/crayons, Notebooks, Water bottles/cups, Nail polish, Hat, Fruit snacks, Sports stuff, Shoelaces, Sidewalk Chalk
If you are able, please feel free to donate from this list or any other items that you or your child(ren) think of.
Donations can be brought to the office, and we thank you in advance for your generosity.
Miss the K-2 spring concert, or just want to see it again?
When is the spring Bike/Walk to school day.
We encourage families to participate in this event. If you live too far away to Bike/Walk, you can park several blocks from school and then travel by bike or walk to Franklin.
Students will be able to earn tickets to be used for prize drawings.
How much sleep should children get each night?
Why should I talk to my student about School Board Policy 501, section III, sub A3?
School Board Policy 501 describes how schools keep a safe environment free of weapons. Outlined in the policy are the obvious things that outside of school students are not allowed to use or only with adult supervision, but it also covers items that fit into the category of toys.
There is the potential for a problem if a student places a toy gun or rubber knife in the pocket of their coat and then brings it to school. It can be a confusing situation for students as something they have permission to use outside of school is forbidden at school.
Please take a few minutes to talk with your child about the importance of never bringing any of the items outlined in the policy to school.
To read the full policy, use this link.
Will you be attending the Educare benefit?
When will transportation forms be sent home?
Transportation Registration Forms will be coming home from school the beginning of May. This form will be light pink in color. Please return the form before the end of the school year.
Returning this form before the end of the year will guarantee your child busing for the 1st day of school from the address on the form.
Late registrations, after August 1, will likely not have bus transportation in a timely manner, parents will be required to transport their student until the form is processed and the bus pass received.
Thank you for your timely completion of this required form.

What's happening for Wellness Week?
Have you seen the 2019-20 School Calendar?
What plans are in the works for Staff Appreciation Week?
Franklin PTO will celebrate our amazing staff and all they do for our students during Staff Appreciation Week on May 6-10. Within the next few days you will receive a separate email with details on how your family can help recognize and celebrate our staff. Also, check PTO's Facebook group for a request for student artist help.
What are your thoughts about having or not having a Franklin yearbook next year?
This year's Franklin yearbook will be distributed to students the last week of May. At the May 7 PTO meeting, we will be discussing whether to produce a yearbook next year or not. To help in our decision making, PTO has created a short, 2-question survey and we welcome your thoughts. To complete the survey, please go to: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9M7XV2H
You are invited to attend the May 7 PTO meeting to discussion this topic and vote on how we proceed next year.
Do you love a good popsicle?
If you attended Franklin as a child, you may recall ice cream socials as a fun, family event. We're bringing a little bit of history back with a Family Ice Cream Social on Thursday, May 2 from 5:30-7 p.m. This rain or shine FAMILY event will be held on the playground or lower level of Franklin. Students MUST be with a parent or guardian to attend.
Zip Zap Ice Cream will have popsicles for our students and families. We'll have some other fun activities and it will be a great way to celebrate that our year is coming to an end and connect with other families.
When is the next PTO meeting?
The final PTO meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Franklin Media Center. All Franklin parents/guardians and staff are welcome to attend. Agenda topics include reviewing next year's PTO events calendar, reviewing and approving next year's $22,000 PTO budget, and determining if PTO will produce a 2019-20 yearbook to sell.
Do you love a good deal on books?
The Reading Committee is organizing a final Read Out event on Tuesday, May 14 from 6-7 p.m. and PTO is bringing a Scholastic BOGO Book Fair to Franklin for that one day only. This BOGO book fair isn't about earning Scholastic Dollars for Franklin, but offered as a way for families to stock up home libraries for summer reading. For each book or item purchased, you get a second item for free. The Scholastic BOGO Book Fair will be open from 3-8 p.m. on May 14, so you can stop in after school or before or after the Read Out event.
