November is a wonderful reminder of Thankfulness and Gratitude. I am daily reminded of the amazing community we have at Wilkinson. My heart is full of gratitude to the students and families that make this a great place to be. It takes each of us to create an environment that our children deserve.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child,
Malinda Stewart
News from the Assistant Principal...Mrs. Summerville
Not only at Thanksgiving, but every day, we are grateful four our Wilkinson community. We enjoyed seeing everyone at events like the color run and Canton in Conroe. It’s also wonderful having families back in the building to have lunch with our students. Our family support is fantastic here at Wilkinson.
Many new skills are introduced and taught in November. It is an important month to arrive to school on time and have perfect attendance. Missing just one day of instruction puts a student at a disadvantage. We need your support to ensure children’s education is not effected. Send children to school every day, when they are not sick, day to get the most out of their education.

Counselor's Corner
We are really enjoying our R.O.A.R. Character Education Program! R.O.A.R. stands for Respect, Optimism, Acceptance and Responsibility! This year, we will have a new way to dive deep into our character education at Wilkinson. Each month, we will have a specific “focus” for the month that helps students to dig a little deeper into ways they can show Respect, Optimism, Acceptance and Responsibility.
November's Focus: “Solving Problems: I can overcome.”
Your students will learn steps to help solve problems and ways to analyze the possible solutions to their problems.
Steps to Solve Problems:
Identify the problem. What’s the problem?” Develop a plan/solution. “Now let’s think about ways to solve his problem.” Evaluate the plan. “Will this plan work? What happens if I choose this plan?” Implement the plan. "Does everyone involved agree to try this plan?" **If your first plan doesn't work, keep trying!!
They'll learn the importance of trying again if the first plan doesn't work. Giving up doesn't solve our problem. Thinking of more than one plan and the consequence of each, gives them a backup in case the first plan doesn't work.
Your students will discuss this concept during Guidance Lessons and during Morning Meetings this month. Please help your students use this process at home when they have a problem to solve. Thank you in advance for taking the time to discuss this with your students and encouraging them to practice using effective problem-solving skills.
Assistance:
If your family is in need of assistance throughout the year, please fill out this form to give me or information about your family’s needs.
21-22 Assistance Form <-- Click here!
Completing this form does not guarantee assistance, but it helps me to find possible resources available. If you've already completed this form at some point this school year, you don't have to complete it again.
Watch DOGS are back!!!!
Calling all father figures...now is your time. We are excited to welcome back our Watch DOGS. Watch this video from our Top DOG, Alan Armstrong.

On Monday 11/8/21, the sign up will be sent out to our 4th grade families and then opened to all grade levels on Tuesday.
November 12th, we would like for our dads to come to school at 7:15-8:00 to help welcome our students in to school. Dads will open car doors and greet our students as they get off the busses. After this event, you can stay around and ask any questions you might have about Watch DOGS.
We can't wait to see you!!!!!
Lunches:
We will be opening for a limited number of visitors during our lunches. We will use a Sign up to reserve (up to 2) visitors per student. We ask that you only sign up once every 3 weeks to allow for all families to share this opportunity. Please use this link to sign up for Lunch Visitors. We are going to start small, with one week published to be able to adapt and change things after the 1st week. After that, we will publish 3 weeks at a time. The link will be the same for the year and will be posted on our website for quick reference.

Make sure that you sign up under the correct grade level and date. We ask that you have no more than 2 visitors per student. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please call the front office and we will work with you! When signing up for two visitors, please sign each person up in a separate slot. We need to limit visitors to 6 adults total per grade level per day. We also ask that you sign up once per 3 week period so that every parent has an opportunity to sign up.
Referral Requests for Gifted and Talented Testing
Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are only accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 17. All students will need to have a referral and parent survey submitted during this window (10-1-2021 to 12-17-2021). You may use the links below to access the forms, request a copy from the front office, or the assessment coach (Megan Caldwell). You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
