8TH GRADE HAPPENINGS

Recently, 8th graders participated in Teacher Trivia as a way to get to know some interesting facts about their teachers this year. We use this contest as a way for students to select t-shirt colors for their class of 2024 t-shirts. Orders for the t-shirts are being taken now and are due by Tues, Sept. 17. Students will be asked to wear these at various times throughout the year for special events and field trips. We hope that all 8th grade students will get a t-shirt for school pride.

The PTSO had their first meeting this week and we are looking forward to a great year! Our next meeting takes place on Wednesday, October 9, at 5:30 in the TJMS Flex Room, please join us! Our first event is a giveback night this Monday, September 16th at Chipotle from 5:00-9:00. How can you help? Take the family out to dinner! You DO NOT need a flier, BUT you DO need to mention TJMS. TJMS gets 33% proceeds of sales. Bring your friends and family!

Our next event is the Great TJMS Tailgate co-chaired with the TJMS Student Council on September 24th from 3:00-4:15 behind TJMS. After the event, we can either head over to the TJMS volleyball game to cheer on our team, or walk after to see the TJMS football teams take on Willowcreek. We are looking for help with this event, both donations and time.

Please see link below to participate! If you are interested in volunteering at anytime this year, please make sure you have a CURRENT background check on file with VCS.

The PSAT 8/9 is designed to help students and educators determine which academic skills they need to work on to get ready for high school and beyond. This test also helps schools identify students who are likely to succeed in AP courses as well as connects students to scholarship opportunities. More information about the test will be coming closer to the date. Please email Mrs. Carlson with any questions or concerns at jcarlson@valpo.k12.in.us
