Seniors!!
Scholarships: The big push now! Mary and I have been in the senior transitions classes discussing The Educational Foundation for Columbia Schools Scholarship, these are due the Wednesday BEFORE spring break at the Brooklyn Post Office. You can check out my weebly, I update this as quickly as I get information, and remember NEVER pay for scholarship searches, they are scams. wdiefenthaler.weebly.com
The College and Career Access Center with Mary have many upcoming workshops that will cover Scholarships, FAFSA, Career Assessment and Major Mapping. If you are interested please check out their website. https://www.jcisd.org/CCAC
John George Jr. Student Loans are ready as well. This is a private loan that you can borrow up to $6000 for four years, a total of $24000, with a 2% interest rate. Definitely a great way to help bridge the gap. http://www.johngeorge.org/
Juniors! I know this time of year starts to really drag. It's easy to start loosing interest in the SAT prep class. Here are a few apps that you could look into to help spice up your studies!
SAT Practice Prep through Varsity Tutors, SAT Exam Prep through Magoosh, and Remember That by Cerego, Inc. These might give you a different way to look at reviewing over the holiday break.
Sophomores! We will visited the Career Center on February 1st. If you loved a section and are hoping to go there next year, be sure to visit my Google Classroom and get signed up. The deadline to sign up for Career Center is March 11. There are many certificates and college credit that you can earn when you attend the career center.

Tuesday's our Math teachers stay after until 3:35 for drop in math tutoring and on Thursday Mrs. Wallace (English), Mr. Politowitz (science), and Mr. Parkinson (social studies) stay for all other subjects. Mrs. Ellsworth (special education) also stays on Thursday's. If you need a little extra help every now and then be sure to stop in!

Did you know?
Columbia School District is partnered with Family Service and Children's Aid to provide counseling during school hours for students. This is a great resource for families that have difficulty getting students to counseling services in the evenings and weekends. Ask your building counselor if your interested in information on this for your student.
