The Rotaract Club of DCUOIT

This month DC & UOIT Rotaract club has done quite a bit! We started of the month with our professional development event, where we had ten Rotarians come and mentor students that night. The event was a speed dating style, where students moved from table to table, and got a chance to talk to all the mentors. It was a great night for both students and mentors. We would like to thank Rotary for their support! Throughout the month we have raised over $100 dollars toward the Cancer Society by selling shish kabob candy at the university; this event is part of another event being held on April 30th, where we will be hosting Franco Scanga who is trying to break a Guinness World record by making the most speeches in 24 hours, and raising money toward a cure for cancer. We also had a water project information table, where students got more information on how many villages don’t have clean water, which is the cause of many disease. Lastly we are finishing up the month with a Salsa Lessons on March 24th at UOIT.

Polar Dipping with The Rotaract Club of the University of Toronto

The University of Toronto Rotaract Club hosted a Polar Bear Dip on March 13th at Sunnyside Beach in support of the Rotarian lead Haitian Humanitarian Assistance and Relief Team (HHART) working in the Dominican Republic. Members representing 6 Rotary and Rotaract clubs raised over $1600 to go towards the purchase of mobile dental supplies to enable the dental team to educate and work within the communities they serve. The event was full of adrenaline and despite the 3 degree C water it was a lot of fun!

The Rotaract Club of the University of Toronto hosted a Comedy Night fundraiser on Saturday March 19th to raise funds for one of their chosen international initiatives, ShelterBox. Hosted at Trinity College, the night was absolutely hilarious, with comics coming from all over Toronto to perform, including the trio Adorable. The event was a great success, with over 50 people showing up to laugh and enjoy the show. It was a great opportunity to put Rotaract on the map at U of T, and we're looking forward to more great events like this in the future.

Stand Up & Be Counted - Thank you!
Rotaractors, you are among over 200,000 leaders who are changing the world. But fewer than 73,000 Rotaractors are actually being counted. For far too long we have not seen the full strength of Rotary’s global movement of young leaders, and now is the time to show the world the power of‪#‎Rotaract‬. It’s time for every Rotaractor to STAND UP & BE COUNTED. ‪#‎RotaractGoals‬
