Summer Update
August 26, 2021
Monroe Eagles and Families,
Two weeks and counting! We are officially in countdown mode as our first day of school fast approaches. As of last night, our 2021/2022 school year calendar is official (calendar link). As anticipated, our first day of school for first through fifth grade students is Wednesday, September 8th. Kindergartners begin with family/teacher conferences followed by our first on-campus day for kindergartners on Monday, September 13th. Please see our Welcome Back Schedule below for additional details.
Our Monroe webpage (link) includes a variety of back to school resources. As part of those resources, families will find our 21/22 Student/Family Handbook (link) and information specific to our incoming kindergartners (link). In addition, please see the Back-to-School information at our Everett Public Schools has posted related to district-wide information (including health/safety protocols) (link).
9/1 Brief Office Closure
Please note that our Monroe Office will be closed on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 8:00am to 10:00am. This time will allow our entire Monroe team to meet together. This is an opportunity that we rarely have and is sincerely needed as we come together for the first time in over eighteen months. Our office will open again at 10:00am with full services. Thank you.
Welcome Back Schedule:
- This drop-in style school event encourages families to stop-by our campus to meet their teacher, see their classroom, and tour our Monroe campus. Please note - Per family and faculty requests, this event has been moved up on the calendar to better accommodate family schedules. That noted, our classrooms and campus will still be five days away from full, first-day readiness. That noted, we believe it is important for our families to be able to visit our campus as we collectively prepare for opening the school year.
- Student/classroom information will be communicated on the morning of 9/2 via our Home Access Center. In addition, greeters will have updated student/classroom information at the event.
- For our Home Access Center please visit the webpage via our district website: https://www.everettsd.org/Page/26203
- If you have school supplies and/or student medications that you need to drop-off, please consider bringing these items to our Meet Your Teacher event. Our Health Room Assistant will be available to meet families and receive needed medications. Please refer to our medication and health documentation/forms for needed information pertaining to medications at school (link). In addition, please feel free to call our Health Room at (425) 385-7306 with any questions.

A Weeklong Celebration of our Eagles!
MOE, short for Monroe Elementary, was incorporated into MOEtown Week as we look to celebrate the return of our students and the start of our 2021/2022 school year. By design, this first week back will focus on building a collaborative, welcoming environment that nurtures the development of meaningful relationships student-to-student and student-to-staff relationships. Students will have consistent opportunities to connect with one another while becoming familiar with the rhythms of our campus. While we will certainly incorporate meaning academic opportunities, we will purposefully avoid formal assessments during this first week back. Additional information is forthcoming including designated “school spirit days” that will include fun, collaborative opportunities.
Please Join our Monroe PTA
Stuff the Bus Backpack Distribution
Thanks to the generosity of our community who donated supplies through the Stuff the Bus program, we have backpacks available in our school office for those in need of any assistance. Please feel free to stop by all next week during office hours or during our Meet Your Teacher evening. Our office team looks forward to helping your child prepare for the school year.
We hope to welcome you next Thursday, September 2nd at our Meet Your Teacher event. In the interim, please take care, stay safe and be well.
