72% of all people living with HIV live in Africa. An estimated 22.9 million people live with AIDS in sub-saharan Africa. During 2011, an estimated 1.2 million african adults lost their their lives to HIV/AIDS.

What's being done to stop it.

One of the ways countries are trying to prevent HIV/AIDS is by promoting condoms and having at least 1 per man. Another way to prevent is that a woman that is HIV+ and about to give birth can take MTCT drugs to help reduce the risk of the baby being HIV+.
