TESTING - SBA Testing will start the week of April 24th and will run through the end of May. Please make sure your 3rd, 4th, and/or 5th grader is at school on time and well-rested on their assigned testing days. It will be very important to avoid any family trips or appointments during this time period. Please refer to the schedule that will be sent home with students regarding specific testing dates. New School Year Enrollment is Opening Soon!
We are preparing for the 2023-24 school year already! Enrollment for new kindergarten through grade 5 students who live within our attendance boundaries opens March 13th. A child must be five years of age on or before August 31, 2023 to be eligible to enroll. Please prepare to register by obtaining medically verified immunization records, birth certificate, and a proof of residence (utility bill, lease/rental agreement, or mortgage papers). All enrollment is done online. Click here to access the enrollment application or go to fpschools.org and click on enrollment.
- We are moving to a new online system. Enrollment will end in our current system on June 11th and will reopen on July 17th in the new system. Please make sure to complete your child's enrollment application by June 11th or wait to start it after July 17th.
Current students who live within Brookdale boundaries are automatically enrolled at Brookdale for next year. Students living within our district but outside of Brookdale boundaries who want to attend Brookdale must complete a within-district transfer form online. Click on the Transfers and Homeschool link to access the correct form. Out-of-district students who wish to attend Brookdale must complete a new out-of-district transfer (Choice Transfer) from their home district to be considered for enrollment.
CLASS PICTURE AND SPRING PORTRAITS
Quality School Portraits will be photographing all students for group class pictures and individual pictures on Tuesday, March 21.
All students will receive a complimentary 6x8 class photo this year! You may also purchase individual pictures as all students will be photographed individually too! This way any student who did not have a picture taken in the Fall will appear in the yearbook.
Picture packets are going home Monday, March 6. If you would like to purchase Spring Portraits please send the photo order envelope to school with your child on or before March 21. You can also order online at www.qualityschoolportraits.com. Use code SPBROO22. Please remember that neither the office nor the photographer can make change that day – the correct amount of cash must be sent, or checks made payable to Quality School Portraits. Any questions, please call the office at 253.298.3100.
The Reptile Man ~ March 22

Zoologist, educator, and author, Scott Peterson "The Reptile Man" will present live animal demonstrations and teacher the importance of all animals in nature. The show portion of the service he provides he talks about 8 to 12 reptiles from all over the world. All of the venomous species have been surgically devenomized, meaning that they pose no serious risk of injury to anyone.
After the show the adults and kids will have the opportunity to handle or touch between 3 and 4 of the animals for another 10 to 15 minutes.
(Please note this portion of the show may not be free of charge).

WE LOVE OUR PARAEDUCATORS!
The week of March 6 - 10 is Para-educator Appreciation Week at Brookdale. We have an amazing and talented bunch of paras who help us meet students’ needs in countless ways. In addition to providing supervision at arrival, dismissal, lunch and recess, our paras work skillfully with small groups of students to build academic and social skills. Their dedication to, and heart for, students is outstanding. Please join us in thanking: Lianne Adams, Jennifer Alavarez, Claire Andrea, Crystalina Claudio, Endia Coleman, Megan Cram, Julie Dawson, Glynn Gibbs, Egaid Gonzalez, Kim Lathrom, Faaalo Liulevaega, Vantha Pol, Shearn Santiago, Kathleen Traufer, Charmae White, Rosemary Whiteley, Melia Wilber, Elizabeth Williams, Jenny Williams and McKenzie Williams. We can't thank them enough for all their hard work.

IMPORTANT SCHOOL REMINDERS
STUDENT EARLY DISMISSAL – If your child has an appointment and is leaving before the end of the school day, please make sure you send a note that morning letting the teacher and the office know. If you call, we must receive it before 3:00 and students should be picked up no later than 3:30 due to our end of the day congestion. Also, please allow enough time for pick up. To preserve precious class time, we do not call students to the office until you have checked them out in person (remember your ID).
SCHEDULE CHANGES - The end of the day at Brookdale is very hectic. If you forgot to send a note in the morning (which is preferred) and need to call the school with a change to your child’s schedule, please do so before 3:00 p.m. After 3:00 the office is busy assisting students and parents and will not be able to answer your call or get a message to a student before they leave for the day. All end of the day schedule changes must be made through the office, not with the classroom teacher. Thank you!
UPDATE CONTACT INFORMATION - If any of your information has changed (address, contact info., email address, etc.) please contact the office right away. This year more than ever, it will be important to have the most current information. Also, let us know what your preferred method of contact is - phone, email, text. You can reach the office at 253.298.3100.
