The Triplets of the 90's
The best QB, RB and WR combo of all time
Who were they?
The Triplets are Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin of the Dallas Cowboys, the best NFL team of all time. During the 1990's the won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years, in 1992, 1993 and in 1995. They were led by quarterback Troy Aikman who didn't gain many yards or throw for many touchdowns in the regular season but he played well in the big games. Aikman would often throw to wideout Michael Irvin, who was the flashiest of the three and was known for his famous over the shoulder catch on long touchdowns. If the passing game was ever halted, The Cowboys would put all faith in Emmitt Smith to win the game for them, as he is the all-time NFL leader in rushing yards and touchdowns. Together, the Triplets made an unstoppable team when combined with tough fullback Daryl Johnston, veteran tight end Jay Novacek, a stalwart O-line that included Larry Allen, Mark Tuinei and Nate Newton and their shut down defense which was led by Darren Woodson, Charles Haley, Ken Norton Jr. and Russell Maryland.
