Rabbit/Poultry Barn
Rabbit/Poultry Barn Clean-up will be held Saturday, July 17, 9am until noon. All rabbit and poultry exhibitor families are encouraged to assist with cleaning and set-up of pens.
Pre-Entries for the 2021 Washington County Fair are now open on our website! Please go to https://go.unl.edu/wcfentries to find all contest and livestock pre-entry Google Forms. Pre-Entries must be completed by July 8th by 5 pm in order to exhibit at the 2021 County Fair.
4-H Council Applications Now Being Accepted
The purpose of the Washington County 4-H Council is to promote and to assist in the planning and execution of the 4-H program. Apply to serve in an integral role to the Washington County 4-H Program. For the 2021 election, there are two adult full term (3 year) positions open and 6 youth full term (1 year) positions open. Applications can be found by going to https://extension.unl.edu/statewide/washington/washington-county-4-h-council/. Applications are to be sent to WashingtonCounty4h@unl.edu no later than 5 PM on Friday, July 23rd. Online Ballots will be announced when available.
State Public Speaking Contest Results
Congratulations to Erica Fuchs and Jenna Murch-Shafer on a job well done competing at the State 4-H Public Speaking Contest, held on June 30th in Lincoln on East Campus.
Erica Fuchs competed in-person in the Intermediate Speech Contest and received a purple ribbon. PSA participants were required to send in their PSA recording to be judged. Erica received a purple ribbon in the Intermediate PSA Contest.
Jenna Murch-Shafer competed in the Senior PSA Contest and received a Blue Ribbon.
A job well done by both of our Washington County 4-H participants!
Premier Animal Science Event (PASE) Results
Congrats to Brooke Hilgenkamp, Alyssa Schumacher, and Elisabeth Meyer on a great day of judging at PASE at the Animal Science Complex on June 29th! The contest consisted of 10 classes, 4 sets of oral reasons, and 2 sets of questions. Over 90 individuals competed in the senior division.

2021 WCF 4-H Sign Ups Are Open
It takes several people to ensure that the 4-H portion of the Washington County Fair runs smoothly. Consider volunteering for one of the many opportunities available. Opportunities include; Static and Contest help, Pancake Feed help, Pizza Stand help or volunteer to lead the morning Meet Me at the Flagpole. All are good opportunities for both adults and youth to directly be involved at the fair and learn more about the 4-H Program by being at the forefront of a large event. Virtual & At-Home Educational Resources
Nebraska 4-H is bringing back one of their most popular virtual camps from last summer: BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING CAMP! In this engaging hands-on virtual program, youth ages 8-14 will use the engineering design process to work through biomedical engineering challenges. Activities include Nanotechnology in the Body, Laparoscopic Surgery, Biomedicine in Space, and Prosthetics & Pills. Youth will also participate in a biomedical career day. The virtual camp will be held July 6-9 with sessions from 9:00 am to Noon CT each day. Registration is $75, is limited to the first 25 youth, and closes on Friday, July 2. Living Room Learning
Jump into the world of ART+ENTREPRENEURSHIP with the upcoming Living Room Learning+! This interactive virtual experience will engage youth in using the elements and principles of design to create artwork and tell a story. Participants will also meet two creative entrepreneurs who will share their own ART+ENTPRENREUERSHIP stories. This opportunity is free and open to all youth! Livestock Achievement Program
We’re excited to announce the NEW Livestock Achievement Program. This opportunity is design to promote all educational aspects of the 4-H livestock projects including selection, production, leadership, and exhibition by recognizing youth striving to improve in their livestock project knowledge and leadership. The program recognizes intermediate and senior Members of Excellence across all 4-H livestock project areas, including beef, sheep, meat goat, swine, dairy cattle, dairy goat, rabbit, and poultry.
