Cannon's RAD Read
December 18-22 Title 1
Cannon News
- WELCOME BACK! By the time you read this, I will have had my knee surgery and will hopefully be recouping quickly. I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break! I am sorry that I am not there with you all. I hope to be back soon! We have a lot to accomplish this last semester with our students.
- Our new specialty schedule starts Monday! Make sure you know where you are supposed to go and when. Make sure to send out a note in your newsletter so parents know the new days. If you are helping out in the gyms in the morning for our extra PE time, make sure you get there asap from your first duty.
- Before we left, SLO Progress checks were due. Make sure you have everything turned into STRIVE. Google invites will be going out soon from your appraiser. We will meet to check the progress of your students and your SLO. Make sure you bring all of your student samples with you, plus your tracker. Midpoint conference must be completed by January 25. Depending on my return: I will either hold my meetings or Patrick/Shores will meet with the teachers I evaluate.
- Starting Jan 8 we will have extended PLCs Monday-Wednesday to regroup for our new groups that will start on Tuesday January 16. Monday-2nd grade, Tuesday-Kinder, Wednesday-1st grade, Thursday-PreK will have their normal PLC time.
- Our PLCs for Kinder-2nd grade for the next few weeks will be designated for going over data:
Jan 16-19 Math benchmark data
Jan 22-25 TPRI data
Jan 29-Feb 1 MAP data
Feb 5-8 Rigby/DRA Levels
- Mrs. Patrick/Mrs. Shores will let you know which data they will bring and which data you need to bring to the meetings. Make sure to complete all data reflection sheets by the due dates (which they will tell you). Math benchmark data needs to be ready to be discussed by your PLC date. This should already be in the folder ready to go.
- Make sure to take out all staples, left over paper and tape off the walls by the end of this week.
- Grades are due Monday. Report cards and SPED progress reports go home on Wednesday. If you have students that failed one or more subjects for the semester you need to have a parent/teacher conference. That needs to happen before the end of January. This is the start of talking about if summer school is an option or not for the student.
- Law Enforcement Day is January 9-Kinder is responsible for this day. We appreciate how hard our officers work to not only keep us safe, but also to be a positive role model for our students.
- One thing to remember as we start this new semester is to make sure we are responding to parents in a timely manner. Phone calls make more of an impact than an email.
- Attendance House Winners will be announced early this week. Thursday will be the attendance house party 3:00-3:45.
- School Board Appreciation Month is this month: How can your class or grade level show their appreciation for all that they do for our students and you. Let the Principals know what you are planning so we can gather them to present it to them. Please have it ready and turned in by Jan. 19.
Classroom Procedures and Expectations.
This is a great time to review classroom procedures and expectations again. Students have been out for a bit and will need a refresher.

Important Reminders
Lesson Plans/Grades: Make sure your lesson plans and grades are turned in weekly.
Lunch Tags: When you pass out your lunch tags in the cafeteria line, make sure to give the leader of your line the bucket. This shows the cafeteria ladies where the new line starts and allows them to add the tags to the bucket to ensure who is in your classroom.
Backpack Tags: Make sure every student has a tag on their backpack.
Poly Folders: Make sure you are checking your poly folder thoroughly for transportation changes and/or notes.
Dress Code: The best time to check dress code is in the morning as you are greeting your students. Dress code concerns should be directed to Shores and Patrick. Make sure to fill out the google dress code form. It is in the google classroom. If you are not sure about dress code, refer to our handbook or the QISD Student Handbook.
Nurse: All students must have a nurse note when sending a student to the nurse. The pass is in our Google Classroom. Make sure to put your name and student's first and last name.
Sub Tubs: Start getting your sub tubs ready. You never know when you will need to be out.
Time off Calendar Request: Mrs. Shores will be sending out step by step instructions on how to create half day or whole day requests. Coming in late or leaving early still needs to be on the paper form, found in the google classroom.
We will/I will statements: Your We will and I will statements should be posted on the board each day according to the objectives you are teaching.
ELPS: Make sure to post your ELPS on your board as well as in your lesson plans.
