2020-2021 Transportation Plan
Hirsch Elementary Transportation Plan
2020-2021
**Please note that ALL transportation changes must be made in writing by 2:45 p.m.**
Traffic Flow - If you are a Bus, Daycare or have a Special Transportation Number, you will use Entrance A and drop off at Front Office. If you are a car rider, you will use Entrance B Drop off at the Faculty Parking Area.
Car Riders -
Car riders may be dropped off at 8:00 a.m. at the Faculty Parking Area (side parking lot ONLY). If your child will be a car rider and does not have a car rider tag, please email the teacher. The car rider tags are orange. New tags will be sent home with car riders on the first day of school. In order to pick up your child in the car rider line, you must have a car rider tag. If you don’t have a car rider tag you will be asked to check your child out at the front office with a valid license or government issued I.D. The car rider line is for parents in cars only. Please be courteous to other drivers and support staff. Car riders must put on a mask upon entering the building.
Bikers - Bike riders will be allowed to enter the building at 8:00 a.m. after locking their bikes on the bike rack. Please provide a bike chain for your child as we are not responsible for any stolen property. In the event your child has ridden his/her bicycle to school and you pick him/her up, please make the necessary arrangements to have the bike picked up so that it is not left overnight in the bike area. We will not be responsible for bicycles left overnight. Bikers must put on a mask upon entering the building.
Bus/Special Transportation -The front parking lot will be used for buses and special transportation only. Students who ride the bus need to arrive at their designated pick-up location at least 5 minutes early. Students who ride the bus must abide by the Student Code of Conduct. Riding the bus is a privilege that may be taken away. We want to ensure that all students are safe. If your child is in Pre-K or Kindergarten you must have a PIN NUMBER to get them off of the bus. The Pre-K or Kindergarten students may get off of the bus with an older sibling if the sibling has the PIN NUMBER. Students must put on a mask before loading the bus. Students must also be wearing a mask upon entering the building.
Walkers - We DO NOT have “rainy day” dismissal. We will proceed with dismissal as originally planned. Please send an umbrella and raincoat with your child if he or she walks or rides a bike when the weather report indicates rain. Unless we hear from you, we will dismiss your child the way he or she always goes home. If there is a presence of lightning, we will hold walkers and bike riders until the danger passes. If you decide to pick-up your child on inclement weather days, you will be asked to check your child out at the front office with a valid license or government issued I.D. Please know that student safety is our priority.
Daycare - Daycare students will be loaded in the front parking lot onto the daycare buses at the end of the school day. If you have a change in daycare, please let the front office know.

Know a Spring ISD parent without an email address? Help Us Get them Connected
Parents, we need your help! If you know of any Spring ISD parents/guardians who don’t have an email address, we would love your help getting them online and connected.
Or if you know someone who is still using their student’s email address, we would also appreciate your encouraging them to create their own email address. Having a reliable email address is so important these days as we communicate important safety information. Across the district, there are thousands of parents who either don’t have an email address or are using their student’s Spring ISD email address, meaning they are missing out on both school and district communications.
We have created a handout in both Spanish and English that describes the steps for setting up a Gmail account. Thank you for helping spread the word and assisting another parent in getting connected.

Are you ready to vote on Nov. 3? There’s still time to register!
Our Board of Trustees has approved making Tuesday, Nov. 3 a day off for all students and most staff to accommodate the projected Election Day turnout at our campuses. Many of our Spring ISD campuses will be used as polling sites this year, and this decision will help ease traffic congestion and help us ensure the health and safety of students and staff.
We also want to remind everyone there is still time to register to vote ahead of the Harris County deadline of Oct. 5. If you haven’t already done so, please consider registering before then. Some of our seniors may also be eligible to cast a ballot on Nov. 3 if they are at least 17 years and 10 months old at the time they register.
The process to register is simple. Just visit this Harris County website for detailed information on registering to vote and to download an application. They are available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese. Remember, voting is an essential part of our democratic system and a great way to make sure your voice is heard.
