Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 4 | 23 FEBRUARY 2022
In Year 4 we have been learning about ‘How to Trap a Goblin’ after a recent visit from a friendly but slimy Cloud Goblin. Will we ever be able to trap it? Read our procedure texts in the coming weeks to see our ideas!
Through living simply and loving generously, may we care for our global family and our common home, as we; "Aspire not to have more, but to be more".
We ask this in Jesus' name.
Amen.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
The children are all now well settled into the routines of their classroom and the beginning of year assessments are nearly complete. Despite the uncertain Covid times in which we find ourselves, the hum of teaching and learning is evident across our school. We ask parents to please read the Parent Information Handbook which is on our website and can be accessed by clicking below.
We have enrolled several new families this year and warmly welcome them all to our wonderful school community. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions of Covid, parents have been unable to gather and meet one another outside classrooms. Our annual welcoming Sundowner picnic has also had to be cancelled in consideration for the wellbeing and safety of our community during the high Covid caseload in our State.
There are still ways to connect with one another and we encourage all parents to join the Facebook page for their child’s grade. Another way to connect is through joining our dynamic and welcoming P&F. If there are any parents who would like to join our P&F, we ask that you contact our front office to leave your contact details and Andrea Ludvik, our P&F President will call you.
With positive Covid cases now presenting in many more primary schools across Western Australia, we would like to remind families that if your child is unwell, please keep them at home. If your child is showing Covid symptoms, please get them tested. If you choose to use a Rapid Antigen Test at home, WA Health will request a follow up PCR test, unless your child is already a close contact when they test positive with a Rapid Antigen Test.
If your child receives a positive Covid test result please contact the school to let us know, so that we can establish if there are any close contacts that need to isolate. We will work closely with WA Health to manage any positive Covid cases in our school community and will keep parents informed of any cases at our school. With our Covid protocols in place, it is safe for children to attend school.
We ask God to continue to bless our community and we pray for God’s protection over every one of our families.
God bless you all.

Our Lady of Mercy Staff, Parent, Volunteer and Student Code of Conduct
We act in accordance with the values of the Gospel.
This means that our actions are based on the Gospel values. We respect the dignity of each person, acknowledge the giftedness of each person and commit to building positive relationships in our community. In order to do so we have to be sensitive to the fact that each individual has emotions, fears, hopes and an innate goodness which flows from being created in the image of God.
Kiss and Drive Rules
A reminder to parents that there is a no right turn out of Kiss and Drive. The reason for this rule is that vehicles turning right cause a back up of traffic in our Kiss and Drive. Please be considerate of other road users and cars in Kiss and Drive and DON’T TURN RIGHT!
Complete our school survey - have your voice heard
We have only have 7 families respond to this survey. Please click on the link below so that we can hear from you. This is your chance to tell us what you think of our school. Results will be shared in future newsletters.
