Week of November 12-15, 2019
A Note From Mrs. Garrison
Friday is our PTO Fundraiser Reward Party for students that sold a specific number of items. PTO has organized game trucks, fun activities, and a DJ party. Children that qualify will receive more information home next week. I can't thank the volunteers in our PTO enough for their hard work!
Please be aware that space in our cafeteria is very limited. Due to increasing enrollment, we ask that you limit your visits at lunch to special occasions, such as birthdays. We have a small designated table for parents to sit with their children. You are always welcome to drop off lunch for your child in the front office.
We would like your opinion on the 2020-2021 CISD Calendar. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey link below. Our teachers have very strong opinions on this and I'm sure you do too! #welovethanksgiving
Don't forget that Monday is a student holiday. Have a great long weekend!

- High schools currently have 435 minutes a day.
- Elementary, intermediate, and junior high schools have a 430 minute day.
- Early Release counts for 420 minutes of instruction, and no waiver is needed if meeting the minimum 240 minutes of instruction.

- For the 19-20 school year, the approved waiver for staff development days is for November 11 and January 7.
- Conroe ISD has an approved District of Innovation application which allows the District to start school before the fourth Monday in August (8/24/20).
Generation Texas Week:
CISD will be celebrating "Generation Texas" throughout the school district. "Generation Texas" is about the belief that all students belong on the path to education beyond high school! During this week, we emphasize the great possibilities for your child's future on morning announcements. We encourage all students to wear a college shirt to school on Friday, November 22.
Nominations for Gifted and Talented Testing
Nominations are now open for Conroe ISD Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until the end of January, nominations are accepted from October 1- December 19th. Nominations can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in nominating your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Nominations will be accepted no later than December 19, 2019.
