It's February - Assignment Due Date #2 Is Thursday, 2.25.2016

Greetings, Parents, Students, and Facilitators:

I hope this newsletter finds you well and staying warm. It's hard to believe that we are halfway through February.

Progress Reports were posted last night, just after 10:00 p.m. My daughter and I have been sick, so a few of the grades did not make it in before grades were posted - my apologies!

All grades have now been entered. Please be sure to check your grades from the Course Home page under "Grades" - these are the most up-to-date. Also please be sure to email me if I have missed anything, and I will be sure to take care of it right away.

Two Additional Items of Importance:

  • If feel you are behind, and have not switched sessions yet - students may switch sessions one time only - you may still be able to make the change to the 12-Week session. Please have your parent listed in THESIS email me to request the session change ASAP, and I will put in the request for you on Thursday, 2.18.16.
  • Additionally, free Peer Tutors still may be available through GAVS - if you feel you could use some additional help, please also have the parent listed in THESIS email me, and I will request a tutor for you, if one is available.

Parents and Students - your first grades will been posted on this date. Remember that we encourage parents to log in to the student portal to see the most up-to-date grades. The following video, below, will show you how to check grades:

Progress Reports Will Be Posted Again on Tuesday, March 1, 2016

Progress Report Email Schedule:

Following each Thursday Assignment Due Date, progress reports will be sent that next Tuesday.


For Example:


  • Assignment Due Date #2: Thursday, 2.25.16
  • Progress Report #2: Tuesday, 3.1.16


This same schedule will be followed every two weeks for the remainder of this semester.


Be sure to check your Course Schedule (your curriculum pacing guide chart) for the "Orange Thursdays / Assignment Due Dates."

GAVS Due Date Policy - Make Sure You Submit All Work on Time!

Late Work Policy and Assignment Due Dates:

All assignments are due every other THURSDAY by midnight - see orange "Assignment Due Date" boxes in your Course Syllabus and Schedule. Check course schedules for specific due dates. Work will be accepted up to 3 school days late at a rate of 10% off per day. Anything submitted Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is 10% off. Late work submitted Monday is 20% off, and work submitted Tuesday is 30% off. After 3 school days / the following Tuesday at midnight, the assignment will no longer be accepted for credit, and will remain a zero, per GAVS Late Work Policy.


VERY IMPORTANT! Submit all work ON TIME the Thursday your assignments are due; this way, you will be able to begin the next two weeks' work the next day, on Friday. If you put-off your work until the week it is due, you are causing yourself too much stress, and are leaving too much room for error, as well as incomplete assignments.


I want you to succeed in our class, but you must stay on track, and follow your Course Schedule, as well as log in to GAVS, on a DAILY BASIS!

Remember to use MLA Format for all assignments, including projects and essays - including our upcoming Huck Finn Research Paper Rough and Final Drafts! Points will be deducted for not using proper MLA Format, and for not saving your files correctly, so always be mindful of it. We must practice this heading! 3. Please make sure you understand how important writing is, and how important it is that you are attending, or are listening, to our chats - I hold everyone to a very high standard regarding writing!

Weekly Office Hours / Adobe Session Date & Times

My weekly office hours are M-F from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.


Our Adobe Connect sessions (see class link on our Home Course Page) are Mondays at 7:00 p.m. There are times when these sessions will teach a specific lesson, and other times when they will be an opportunity for students to ask questions. Please be sure to visit the recorded help sessions under "User Links," "Synchronous Session Recordings," if you are unable to attend a session. Occasionally, in lieu of, or in addition to, an Adobe Help Session, I will post a Screencast-O-Matic News Item for additional help with a challenging concept within our current Module. If there is a holiday on our assigned Monday Adobe sessions, I will reschedule the session for the next available night that week.
