PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
One of the special things about Eagle Crest and our local community is the strength of the Silver Creek feeder system. This neighborhood is so fortunate to have a supportive pathway as students make their way from Eagle Crest, to Altona Middle School, and ultimately to Silver Creek High School. The threads of leadership, service, and community involvement are woven throughout the PK-12 experience, and we are proud to be an integrated feeder system within the St. Vrain School District.
We love opportunities to connect our students with the amazing student role models at both Altona and Silver Creek. Next week, on Wednesday, March 15th, our entire school will take a “field trip” to Altona to watch their drama department production of Shrek Jr. the Musical. This performance will be held in their acclaimed “rattlers den”, and will be from 1:40pm-3:00pm. If for any reason, you need to pick your students up early from school that day, please arrange to do so before or after the play, because it will be very hard to remove them during the performance.
In the future we are hoping to advertise and share more community participation opportunities that are available throughout our three schools. Be on the lookout for more information shared here in our newsletter!
I hope you have a great weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS' MESSAGE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
We share a lot, here and on social media, about how we promote an understanding of robotics and computer science. In addition to the learning and exploring students do in the Garage with Katy Schwirtz, we also support formal robotics programming through VEX IQ. This programming is part of a larger system within St. Vrain Valley Schools. Robotics programming in St. Vrain has grown to over 200 competitive teams and 850 students system-wide.
Beginning next year, there will be VEX robotics offered at every level of the Silver Creek Feeder system. From VEX IQ programming at Eagle Crest, students advance to Altona's VEX VRC program. Altona has an award winning program and is sending four teams to the World Championship Tournament at the end of April. To support the continued growth and interest in robotics, Silver Creek will be founding a new program next year at the VEX VRC level for high school students. We believe that student experiences and programming at Eagle Crest are the foundation to support students interested in pursuing robotics and computer science at the next level. If you would like to learn more about robotics in St. Vrain, check out this article from the St. Vrain Magazine.
One of our Eaglebotics VEX IQ teams is headed to the State Championship Tournament this Saturday! Team 4440C, the Raging Robots, secured their place as one of the top 40 teams in the state by winning the Excellence Award at our tournament last month. They are hoping to be one of the 19 teams to qualify for the elementary World Championship Tournament. The State Championship will be live streamed. We will post the link on our social media site so that you can follow along!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney

LUNCH MENU & COLOR DAY SCHEDULE
Our Music, PE, and Art classes are on a 3 day rotation. Every school day is either a Red, Gold, or Purple day. These colors are shared on our school lunch menu to help families plan ahead for necessary supplies like sneakers for PE.
ADD MONEY TO YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOL BREAKFAST & LUNCH ACCOUNT
MySchoolBucks is the website you want to access in order to add funds to your child’s account for purchasing breakfast, lunch, or milk at school. This system will send you reminders and can manage the account of multiple students. Money can also be sent to school by check or cash. Please label any checks or cash with the students first name, last name, and teacher.
If you haven’t yet, you can apply for Free & Reduced meals to see if your family qualifies for free meals. Applying for Free & Reduced lunch will help manage fees (like iPad Insurance or sports) and also helps our school receive additional funds and services. We encourage all families to complete the application.
