Thank you to all of the Longfellow families, staff and students for a crazy, hard and yet Wonderful school year!

I hope you enjoy your time off and get to relax and do something fun.

If you have not received your child's report card please stop by the office Monday or Tuesday to pick them up.

We also need ALL textbooks and library books returned to school as soon as possible!!!

Just a reminder I will do a monthly newsletter during the summer!

Device Refresh

Great news! The Iowa City Community School District is refreshing our student technology with new and updated Chromebooks. Students will keep these devices over the summer and use them next school year. In order for your student to receive a new device, current devices, including chargers and cases, need to be at school.

Onsite students will exchange their devices on June 1st.

OLP students will exchange devices in the following way:

  • You may stop by the school on June 2nd, 3rd, or 4th between 12 and 1 PM.

  • If these times do not work, you may contact the library to make other arrangements by calling 319-688-1137 or emailing harvey.sara@iowacityschools.org

Help Return our Books!

The last day for checkout from the Longfellow Library this year will be May 20th. All books will be due on June 1st. please help us to get library materials back on the shelf before the end of the year. We have MANY overdue books and books marked "lost" from last spring through fall 2020. This is making it difficult to get students the books that they want to read. Online students can return books in the return bin in the school entryway. Thank you for your help!

District Information

Dear Families,

The Iowa City Community School District has shared a significant amount of communication over the past year and has used many different tools to provide information. We want to know what worked for your family and if you have suggestions for future communication from your child’s school and the District.

Please take a few moments to provide your important feedback here: https://iowacityschools.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_barI7PX4teBHaPc

We appreciate your time and your candid feedback as we work to strengthen and expand the critical school-to-family communication channels.

Longfellow Elementary stands with all people of color in the fight against racial injustice and inequality. We all deserve to be safe and secure. Longfellow Elementary, as part of the Iowa City Community School District, will not tolerate racism, hate, and other discriminatory acts. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. famously said that, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We will work hard to not let today’s injustice stop us from creating a better tomorrow for our school community. Please know that even though it is summer, you can reach out anytime.

Below you will also find links to resources that are available for our staff and our community. Stay safe and take care. #ICCSDtogether
