Tortuga News!
December Newsletter 2023
Message from Dr. Tunney
Dear TLC Families,
December is always such an exciting time at school, and I am looking forward to seeing you all and enjoying the season together at our upcoming Winter Program performances, classroom celebrations, and more! Please check the calendar of dates in this newsletter to see all we have planned. And don't forget -- TLC will have Winter Break from Monday, December 18th - Monday, January 9th. We wish all families a peaceful and joyful time away from school.
This month is also a time of looking back to reflect on the Fall and the start of the 2023-24 school year. There is so much we have accomplished together since August: opening the TLC Community Library (THANK YOU to parents and friends for your hard work and time!), settling in to our new classrooms at Site 2, welcoming new staff and students into our TLC community, and continuing to work hard and learn together to make sure each, every, and all students can grow and thrive in our inclusive learning setting. We are grateful to families and friends for your ongoing support and commitment for the benefit of our students.
My very best wishes to everyone for a joyful end to 2023.... and here's to inspiration, love, and joy in 2024!
Dr Tunney

Staff Highlight - Mrs. Puccini
Hello TLC friends and family! Today we’re highlighting one of TLC’s newest additions - our interim principal, Mrs. Puccini!
Hello Mrs, Puccini! So what exactly do you do at TLC? I'm the interim principal. I am the first one here and the last one to leave. I make sure everyone is safe and has what they need. I work with everyone to make sure the school runs smoothly.
What do you love about being in education? I love students! I love seeing students learn new things and get excited when they discover something new.
What do you like to do for fun? I love staying home with my husband and three big rescue dogs.
Fun fact: My favorite time of year to travel is winter so I can visit Christmas markets.
Favorite kids book: Alice in Wonderland
Favorite food: Anything my husband makes
Anything else you’d like to share? I'm so happy to be here at TLC. It's been wonderful getting to know the students are their families. It's also been fun reconnecting with several of my former students from El Modena and are now TLC staff or parents.
