MC^2 Parent Night Meeting #1

Please join us Thursday, September 19th for Martin’s first MC^2 Parent Meeting (Building Meaningful Connections and Meaningful Collaborations). Doors will open promptly at

4:15 p.m. Teachers will have two sessions, one at 4:30pm and the other at 5:30pm to allow parents to attend sessions for more than one child. Please be on time, as we will not be able to let late comers interrupt the meetings. If you come after 4:30, we will ask you to wait until the 5:30pm session starts. As you come in, you will be directed to your child’s classroom to learn how we are doing as a class and how your individual child is doing. You will learn about the end of the year grade level expectations and strategies to support their learning at home. We hope that you will be able to attend and take this opportunity to collaborate with our staff and learn strategies to support your child’s progress at Martin Elementary! This is the first MC^2 meeting of the three this year. Our next MC^2 meetings will take place January 23rd and April 14th . MC^2 Parent Meeting Night is a time for you to have an opportunity to learn about your child’s progress as well learn strategies and activities to improve your child’s academic performance. We respectfully request that students/children stay home with appropriate care providers. However, childcare will be provided for Martin age students during the MC^2 meeting.

Public Meeting

New this year during our MC^2 Parent Meeting Night will be our Public Meeting. We will hold two public meeting before each MC^2 session. The first meeting will begin at 3:45 and the second 4:45. There will be lots of important information regarding our Campus and students. We encourage all families to attend one public meeting before heading to your child's classroom.

Please Return Forms

Parents, you received several documents at the beginning of the year that required signatures and information that is pertinent for us to properly assist your children in school. These forms include AUP/RUP permissions, Free-Reduced Lunch Applications, Nurse/Registration documents, etc. Please return these documents filled in appropriately as soon as possible. We thank you for your help!

House Shirt Fridays

All our Mustangs have now been assigned to either House Citrine, House Emerald, House Garnet, or House Sapphire. The intent of the House System is to provide students with more opportunities to connect with each other and to develop new friendships they might not have had a chance to given their classroom assignments. The spirit and energy they've shown thus far have been phenomenal! To continue the energy, students are encouraged to wear their assigned House color on Fridays. If you would like to purchase a house shirt for your child, please call the front office or request an order form from your child's teacher. If your child does not have a Martin House shirt, they may still wear their house color on Fridays. Shirts must be solid color with no pictures or wording.

Picture Day - September 25th

The first picture day of the 2019-2020 school year is upon us! Students will be coming home with a handout to pre-order student pictures. Please be on the lookout or contact the front office for an extra order form. Only students that pre-purchase pictures will be able to dress up for their pictures. Dresses, button up shirts, and Sunday's best always make for some of the best pictures! If your child wears a dress or skirt, please ensure they have shorts or tights on underneath. Shoes should be comfortable enough to move and run freely as students will still participate in recess and PE on these days without changing.

Progress Reports - September 26th

Your little Mustang(s) have been working hard these past few weeks and are excited to show their progress for the year so far! The first progress reports of the year will go home with students on Sept. 26th. Please look it over with your child closely and encourage them for good notes and ask them about anything below expectations. A child's success in school has shown the most improvement when their family members are involved in their performance.

Staff Workday- No School (September 30th)

Parents there will be no school for students on Monday, September 30th. This will be a staff workday across the district. Please take this time to enjoy your child by reading with them or enjoying some time relaxing. We look forward to seeing all students on Tuesday, October 1st. Remember students are considered tardy at 7:55 am.

Ear Plugs for Sale

Students are using computers and special designed programs to support their learning and testing. Ear plugs are essential for them to be able to hear the important information without disrupting the students around them. If you still need to purchase head phones/ear plugs for your child, there are some available for purchase in the front office for $5.
