Our Mission

Cedar Hill students, staff, and families are committed to ensuring high levels of learning for all students and providing a positive, safe, and consistent climate that promotes student character.

Collective Commitments Work Begins

I am so proud of the work that began on Friday in regards to establishing our collective commitments for the upcoming year or two. The FLIGHT team will begin looking at the work that was started and will follow the protocols that Michael shared so we can continue establishing specific commitments and reach consensus regarding them as a staff. Great job! :)

Thank you, Casey and Jennifer M., for your fantastic work on the PLC document that ties all of the components of our vision statements to areas of our current evaluation system and to what we have committed to doing in our building already!!! What a wonderful representation of the hard work we have been doing the past several years since we committed to becoming a professional learning community!!!

Still Looking For A PTO Teacher Representative

I need a teacher representative for PTO. This person will attend PTO meetings, present about 'Teacher Happenings", and will be in charge of updating staff on PTO minutes at Faculty Learning Centers. Two teachers can alternate attending these meetings if this would help.

Superhero Day! - Please put this in your newsletter!!!

Students (and teachers) may dress as their favorite Superhero on October 23rd. If they dress up, they will need to donate $1 for the local Wreaths For Heroes and Honor Flight programs! Classes with the most participation will win a pizza party and teachers will be entered into a drawing for some great prizes!!!! Encourage students to think about what positive super power they wish they had to change the world!!!

Just Some Little Things....

•Please clean your Smartboard filters. If they are too high to reach, please let Sarah know and we will ask Darrell or Roger for help.

•Please put the number for Kelly Services in your phone in case you ever need it: 1-866-535-5998.

•Make sure you have all your grades updated in Infinite Campus. If you have ANY questions about entering info., making comments on grade cards, or running a check of your work before posting, please come to Casey's help sessions. Thank you, Casey, for being our IC coach!!!!

•If your class is going outside the building at a time other than recess, please let the office know and take a radio with you.

•Please update your math data cycle data upon beginning and ending each unit.

•Please have your website updated by October 30th.

•Please update your digital literacy wall before your literacy team meeting. Thank you, Jennifer McBaine, for your hours of work in making our digital wall an exceptional tool!!!

•I will let you know if Mr. Linthacum declares more Red and Black or Jay Pride Days where we can wear other attire with jeans. Until then, jeans (with CH shirts) can be worn ONLY on Fridays. Please check the handbook if you have any questions. This directive for all JCPS staff was given to all administrators by Dr. Foster and Mr. Linthacum. :)

Schoolnet Training

The Offices of Staff Services and Data, Assessment, and Planning are hosting training on how to access district curriculum and generate data reports from SchoolNet. The district's goal is for all curriculum to be accessed through SchoolNet by second semester. Schoolnet will also serve as a place for teachers to access longitudinal data on the students currently on their roster. Teachers will need to know how to access both curriculum and student data in Schoolnet. This training will be different than other Schoolnet training provided up to this point.

Dates available include:

10/12, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 10/28

All trainings will be at Dix Road from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Register on MyLearningPlan to attend.

Four Essential Questions

  1. What do we want students to learn?

  2. How will we know they have learned?

  3. How will we respond when they don’t learn?

  4. How will we respond when they already know?
